Please don't forget her anime
>>291358785i forgot about it the moment i saw it. was it any good?
>>291358824The Japanese myanimelist got it as the 4th best anime ever
>>291358785who?>>291358824there is only the clussy
>>291359069>who?zoom-zooms really don't know about the OGs of this medium
>>291358785But it sucks?
>>291359097The Japanese loved it tho?
>>291359116So what? It doesn't make Angel Beats any better.
>>291359141So I would take shit from a contrarian random /a/non instead of the Japanese consensus? Yeah, sure. It is bad because you said so.
>>291359204Saying Japs like it is not a defence, what is good about it?
>>291359243Anime back then was made for the Japanese in mind first and foremost. Them liking it means that it succeeded in what it was meant to do. All of the old otaku have a similar taste to the Japanese.Us, old anime watchers? We liked it because it is made for us. I don't know what you really want from it to do? I can see how it doesn't attract the new generation of anime watchers. If what you wanted from it was another Frieren or Kimetsu no Yaiba, then good luck somewhere else.
>>291359204Not that anon, but pretending the show wasn't controversial when it aired in Japan is just historical revisionism. It has/had the largest amount of "anti" threads on 5ch (then 2ch) of any anime. You have to remember it was originally planned as 24 episodes and then was cut down to 13 at some point in production, leading to weird passing issues. Maeda had written far too much for such a short series. They've tried to remedy this with some of the other versions (manga and Visual Novel) but all of those projects ended up never finishing, with the most recent being a collab with Heavens Burn Red, so we'll probably never end up seeing exactly what Maeda was fully intending with it
I listen to crow song everyday though?
>>291359287I watched it over fifteen years ago, it sucked then as it does now.>>291359335Exactly, even the good Maeda/Key anime have this issue>>291359420The music is great
Angel Beats was a shittier version of Little Busters. By that point, Maeda had written the same story at least twice, and this was the worse version. I have no idea how anyone who has read Little Busters prefers Angel Beats.
>>291359723>even the good Maeda/Key anime have this issueKanon and Clannad felt fine to me, although I haven't watched them in years. But Kanon had 2 cour to cover a decent but not particularly long Visual Novel and Clannad had 4 while not even covering all of the routes (Kyou and Tomoyo being done in OVAs)The script Maeda handed in for Angel Beats was a lot closer to an actual full fledged Visual Novel than it was to what would end up being a 13 episode seriesI still like it but it's definitely a case of wasted potential, and I'm including the manga and Visual Novel when I say that
>>291359335All of his works get hate at the start, and years later they get loved to death. Same happened with Charlotte, skip to 2025? Nao is the 3rd best girl in Key's history lol
>>291359725Little Busters is amazing. I'm still disappointed we didn't get a Kyoani adaptation for it but having watched it a few years ago, JC Staff actually did seem to bring their A-game to it, especially considering how bad some of their other adaptation have been
>>291359420https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRQg87dPT6wDo you know about this?
>>291359918Charlotte also got a mixed reaction at the time, perhaps even moreso than Angel Beats, with the general consensus pretty much everywhere being that Angel Beats was better. But even people who were mixed on Charlotte (myself, actually) still like Nao. I wouldn't use the ranking of the girls as an indicator for how well the works themselves are received. AIR is quite beloved in Japan, particularly for the music and Misuzu herself, but none of the other characters are going to feature very highly, especially when the other heroine routes were more like obligations to add on (although Minagi is in the top 60 on that list, just not shown there)There's also recency bias. I loved Summer Pockets but it being the most recent "main" KEY work when this poll was done is definitely one of the reasons why so many of its heroines are ranked so high. The younger generation voting here might not have even read or watched KEY's earlier works
>>291359918>>291359993 (Me)I forgot to also mention that Hina being ranked 40 despite her anime's reception being extremely negative in Japan to the point of Maeda saying he wouldn't write an anime script again
>>291359993>Nao was likedOn what planet did this happen? Even in the 2019 poll, she wasn't that high. How come 6 years later she gets more love when nothing new got released for the anime during all of that time?...>>291360021Kamisama ni Natta Hi is going to be loved very soon. Hina will be in a higher position in the next poll. The anime will be higher in the Japanese MAL also. Same old story with Maeda and his audience. Btw, him saying he will stop writing anime is something very Maeda-like. Even at the start of writing HBR, he got negative reception to one of the events and deleted his Twitter account. That is with HBR making +25 million dollars monthly and being one of the most beloved mobile games over there. He listens too much to the haters.
>>291360150>Even in the 2019 poll, she wasn't that highGoing from 6th to 4th isn't a massive jump. The problems people had with Charlotte weren't the characters, it was the pacing. I know he didn't write it, but I feel like Rewrite ended up essentially doing what Maeda was trying to do, but far better>Kamisama ni Natta Hi is going to be loved very soon.I don't think so. I was reading through what people were posting about it just there and the opinion that it's basically a worse version of AIR is something I'd honestly agree with.>Even at the start of writing HBR, he got negative reception to one of the events and deleted his Twitter account.I'd heard about that, but from what I've heard, the general reception to HBR is still quite good, if not great. To be clear, I'm a fan of Maeda (although I am not reading HBR as I don't have the time to read another gacha game), but his anime works are definitely some of his weaker material. The main different between the 2019 chart and the 2025 is almost definitely the age of the people voting. The characters from newer works, like Summer Pockets, do far better in the most recent poll, with perhaps the most shocking being that Umi goes from about 40 something to number 20. But the characters from older works are all generally ranked lower, besides the very popular girls (Misuzu, Nagisa, Kud)
>>291359116Holy fucking recency bias. Also that organization gave me cancer.
>>291359918>Sonohana only 27th>2nd highest maleActually pretty neat.
>>291360984>2nd highest maleThird. Kyousuke and Koutarou ranked higher
>>291360238>Going from 6th to 4th isn't a massive jump.It is with the context. Back in 2019, Charlotte had "recency bias"; the manga had just finished releasing in 2018 and, to what I remember, people liked it a lot. Jumping 2 places up way later for no reason instead of falling down? When it is a very high position to begin with and not like it jumped from the 25th to the 23th? Yah, that is pretty big.>I know he didn't write it, but I feel like Rewrite ended up essentially doing what Maeda was trying to do, but far betterYou legit live on another planet... Rewrite is easily the most hated Key visual novel, and the anime adaptation butchers it so much, I can't comprehend how you reached this opinion at all... Does it even sell as well as the other big Key titles?... I can swear that I barely see any merch of it compared to the rest of Key games @_@>I'd heard about that, but from what I've heard, the general reception to HBR is still quite good, if not great.Like I said, just a few haters can sway him so much. Him being this sensitive is sad, but it is also the reason why he can write the most touching scenarios and compose the most emotion-stirring music...>I'm a fan of Maeda (although I am not reading HBR as I don't have the time to read another gacha game)Hopefully it gets an offline version one day. HBR might have some of the greatest comedy/music from Maeda-sensei ever; no one should miss out on them. I understand people being repulsed by gacha games, even though in this case, this one has the least amount of FOMO in this whole genre, but I respect anons who don't go near them. Let's pray you get the chance to experience it with that awaited offline version.
>>291359725Contr/a/ri/a/n faggot...

>>291358785>’her anime’she got like one episode man
>>291361171>Jumping 2 places up way later for no reason instead of falling down?Part of the re-evaluation was caused by people giving it a second chance after Kamisama was panned, to be fair. The list updates are definitely mostly recency bias. I can't think of a real reason for the Summer Pockets girls to all jump up places in a few years, even with Reflection Blue coming out>Hopefully it gets an offline version one day.So do I, I would like to read it at my own pace someday>Rewrite is easily the most hated Key visual novelI'm aware it has a more mixed reception in Japan, but generally in the West, it has a pretty high reception. But the reception was more because it was striving to do something differently from other KEY Visual Novels. But anyways, my point is still this: it pulled off the mix between SOL and conspiracy a lot better than Charlotte because it was so long, giving the reader a lot more time to get invested in both sides of the story.I also like Tanaka Romeo's writing, although so far I've only read Rewrite, Tsui no Stella and Kana: Imouto, but all three were great>and the anime adaptation butchers it so much,I haven't watched the anime because I'd heard it was bad, I'm only talking about the VN
>>291363674And what an episode it was... It changed the lives of so many anons T-T
>>291359116I laughed out loud at this trash
>>291363839Abdul, what's your opinion on Air?
>>291364163What in this screenshot makes you think he's an abdul? I remember taking a screenshot of this exact scene too

>>291360150>On what planet did this happen?Ur own picture nigga lmao
>>291359725Little Busters is pretty much just Angel Beats but finished>>291359920The adaptation was pretty great. One thing I remember in the VN was the gang preparing for a puppet show. They didn't end up actually doing it for some odd reason. But in the anime adaptation, they did an entire episode focused on Komari and Rin(which was needed) and ended up actually doing the puppet show this time. I thought that was really neat
