Is weekly shonen jump running themselves to the ground by axing a lot of new up and coming series with out mercy?
>>291361926They should've greenlit Two Piece
>>291361926Oda nepotism is killing the magazine
They're used to coming across a hit manga eventually by repeating the process enough times, but it's just not working out right now
Yes. They're looking for another big longrunner to market around and cutting away anything that's getting in the way of that, without realizing that such crops are rare now. Togashi is a big draw but he's really inconsistent, so Oda's really the one carrying the magazine on his back.
>>291362615Oda doesn't really want serious competition ever since kny and jjk.
>>291362699One Piece is not competing with anything else. Marketing isn't Oda's job. He's not in charge of the magazine.
>>291346642As i said if i said what im about to say about oda it would all make sense to why one piece is still fucking running and why oda can have his way with jump.>probably going to post it on /x/.
>>291361926As >>291362596 says, they've always worked like this, and up until recently it's worked flawlessly. My theory is that the era of the big three, Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach, has made WSJ seem unapproachable for most manga authors, and maybe many people didn't even dare get into making manga during their formative years because it didn't even seem possible to compete.Someone making a manga for WSJ needs to feel like they have what it takes to be #1. That's what drove the big three, but they were so far above everyone else that everyone else just stopped competing. It's burned out.
