My understanding of the phones:I think the Skadi phone is basically an alarm that detects someone in need of help, as described in the pamphlet, rather than a device for two-way communication. Ok so I just watched the movie, to me it looks like at the end LoC took Madoka by force. Literally Homura is seen resting on her lap, the LoC does an attack or whatever and then Homura is alone on the bench. If Madoka was integrated back into LoC, it would make sense that she got erased from all timelines again, and everyone's memories, possibly including Homura this time.Homura is seen smiling at the end though, but maybe that's because she forgot Madoka ever existed? What if she's happier without that memory? A recurring theme in the movie about Homura is that she doesn't care about herself, to an unhealthy degree. Kyubey says it and so does Madoka. If the subject of her obsession is gone, maybe she's able to dedicate more time to herself, and maybe she's happier this way

I think the way Kyouko was pictured in this movie is weird. Well, the movie felt a bit pointless even as sequelbait. It felt just like a long list of half-spoken sentences crammed into a runtime that fit neither of them, and the choice of questions didn't feel very inspired. Series Madoka had traces of utilitarianism about her, so we make an overtly utilitarian character, series Madoka overburdened herself so we create a character defined by being overburdened. There comes a point where just having characters vaguely representing some larger idea or fixation and its underside or motivation isn't adding much new for a series that is already overwhelmingly read in that way. I think it would've been more interesting to look at the tensions of that framing.

I didn't like that they made up this graggle new world where apparently witches existed in a limbo place where madoka didn't reach them. It's like in rebellion where they made up that there can exist a place where madokami, the omnipresent and everywhen being, couldn't leave.Something that also felt off in rebellion was that they showed that the universe can change from the results of the magical girls wishes turning out monkey-paw wrong. Although this movie did made rebellion make sense by telling us it wasn't the first time it happened and that what we knew existed was actually another result from that. That was actually nice, made me not hate the rebellion ending anymore, or at least not much anymore.And then when it felt like it could reach some ending that made sense, they made all girls side with homu like they actually understood her, specially sayaka which by being the one who remembered everything should have kept her disgust at homu for doing everything she did.
