Shihei Lin, the editor behind world famous hits like Spy x
Family, Chainsaw man, Dandadan etc left Shueisha a couple years ago and became « indépendant editor ».
And this week he made the news again when Shueisha publicly stated they aren't contracting him in subcontract mode anymore.

This guy is a massive cunt.
Imagine you as a father of four, you raised them with care investing them all your money and time for their future just to find out they are all actually not your children but your wife and her boyfriend's.
What a cunt.

It's not his fault Jump is nepotism slop now

You know i do wonder what will happen when one piece is over what will wsj do.
>>
Ah so this is why all 3 have turned to shit very rapidly.
They all stopped listening to the guy trying to keep them from wasting 100+ chapters on absolutely nothing.
>>
Lost in all this are the rumors that Lin was luring creators by offering better terms. Mangaka get a profit from volume sales on top of living wages while working on a series, but at the same time, only receive a lump sum for merchandising and media deals.

They've had meetings and discussions with foreign creators so they're open to them being on the platform but language and cultural barriers sre still a problem.

Weekly and biweekly is the way to go for digital platforms. Easier to retain and build up a readership than monthly.

Won't axe a series for a while initially until the #of series grows and they'll decide the fate of a series by tracking number of pages read, number of readers who complete a series, and the positive feedback through thumbs up rating. Comments don't seem to be a factor

Starting with 10 series and having 20 by end of the year. Wants to publish 40-50 oneshots a year.

Mixgreen will handle supervision and production of anime adaptations and merchandise for spyxfamily, dandadan, witchriv and centuria. There's no plans for the authors of those works to publish oneshots on their platform yet.

Mixgreen app will be initially for the japanese and no launch date yet. Finalizing an agreement with a global partner(who isn't a publisher) to sell the works internationally. Will vary country to country if they'll distribute it themselves or leave it to a local publisher.

App will be free initial reading, rental for rereading and volumes available for purchase

Fujimoto never listened to editors, he did the contrary of what the editors wanted.

I have sent my comic to their newcomer contest.
If I won, you guys will be reading my baka gaijin's 'manga'.

Maybe people should stop praising this guy so much.

He did post a dragon ball picture so it checks out

Redpill me on this drama. Who is the bad guy? Lin or Shueisha?
>>
>>291379201
Shueisha, which is why WSJ is dying
>>
>>291370952
What difference does it make if they're not yours?
>>
>find diamonds in the rough
>retarded editors take over, force mangaka to drag them out with endless filler or just axe them early
they're never gonna let Oda be surpassed. he'll ride wan piss till he croaks of heart failure and keep dragging it out will tedious filler till that happens
>>
>>291379316
When Lin had a brain aneurysm all the manga he was editing for became trash
Oda was already surpassed many times, One Piece is fucking trash

>>291374051
Verifiably wrong. The whole reason Chainsaw Man part 1 had any success was because of Lin
>>
>>291379316
Oda is still mad at kny and jjk success.

Lol sure thing schizo

So basically Toriyama with Dragon Ball
>>
>>291380677
No?
Tori have DQ, CT and Arale
>>
>>291381703
>and Arale
technically part of Dragon Ball
>>
>>291371252
Two Piece with Luffy's kids in space. The mother will be kept intentionally ambiguous to bait shippers.
>>
pedoda will do everything he can to kill the magazine so that hes the only shonen remaining

meanwhile nobody cares about current warm piss chapters. Hope it was worth it
>>
>>291379343
Same goes for dandadan
Tatsu wanted to draw a girl boss manga, Lin told him to come up with a male mc and read 100 romcoms and then come back to him
>>
>>291387428
and he was right
battle shonen protagonized by females would get axed in no time
>>
>>291387357
Oda really has all that power? You'd think it'd be Togashi...
>>
>>291388548
akane banashi is a shitty boring manga with mediocre sales for its long run and an anime nobody knew even existed yet it never is axed and is front and centre just like ruri dragon

why? because they edited for oda just like ruri dragon and its infinite hiatus that no other series that new would be able to get

Just face it, its clear oda is completely in charge with the current jump lineup and its killing the magazine
>>
>>291388273
Oh absolutely. There's a reason Tatsu's had like 50 ideas rejected despite being a talented artist. It reached the point where he was seen as only being good for an assistant. Then Lin dug it out of him.
Lin has a long track record of being able to accentuate the strengths and hide the weaknesses of talented but flawed mangaka like Fuji and Tatsu.
For CSM p1, he intensively guided Fuji through the process of making a manga that appeals to mainstream audiences without stomping on his creative freedoms.
Can't really blame him for P2 because he had an aneurysm at the point when the manga truly turned to shit and afterwards he was already planning to hop out.

>>
>>291370803
This is your explanation for csm part 2.
>>
>>291388810
I find the works he's edited for pretty mediocre/bad writing wise but you can tell he really knows how to get an author to make something readers will like and buy. In shonen that's more important since good writing doesn't guarantee sales.
