It lowers the stakes significantly. The Anime also skips over a ton of world building and context that is worth reading about. A lot of forshadowing and contextual linking is completely dropped by the anime (like how when Rosemyne performs the starbinding ritual it foreshadows her use of the cape and crown in how it appears later in the story.)There are ~3 phases to the story. Phase 1: Myne growing up in the lower/commoner quarter/downtown. The Anime pacing is about the same as the Light novel.Phase 2. Myne gets adopted as Rosemyne into the nobel quarter. The LN balloons to about 3x the content compared to phase one at this point but the Anime keeps the same pace so cuts out about 2/3rds of the content and context.Phase 3. Royal academy and beyond. This phase has maybe 5times or greater the amount of content and context compared to the first phase. This will get completely butchered by the anime's pacing.Phase 1 is essentially a prologue to the story and phase 2 is closer to the first act of the story. Act 2 and 3 happen in phase 3.
