As always I'll be posting my stitches and sharing whatever thoughts I have. Not sure how many thoughts I do have as this solo episode was pretty solo compared to most other arcs, which were, of course, duo. So my thoughts may be solo as well

>>291489468Seasoning is very real. It's the reason why cast iron is effectively non-stick. The oil gets into the little nooks and crannies of the iron when it's hot and creates a slick barrier that's smooth to food and food can slide right off of. And you can get a cast iron crazy hot, if you want/need to, and the heat stays in it a long time once you do. It's a very excellent cooking implement. Everyone should have a cast iron pan or two.

I don't have too much to say about the first half of the episode. I like aki shenanigans and I like Aoi. Cute that Aoi did go along with her to help with the bowl and skillet even though she wants to study. She's a good student but and even gooder friendI like that Aki went and actually bought a skillet after her encounter with the classy ojiisan in the woods. It suits her character most as she's the MEAT girl

I also like Enachan being put on the spot here. After all the FUN she's caused others to have with her machinations, it's good to see her finally getting what's coming to her. She'll now have to camp up or shut up. She's a bit similar to Rin here because camping is something a bit outside her comfort zone. Not because of other people, but just because it's SOMETHING when she prefers to do NOTHING. her favorite thing is to just go home and be comfy and sleep. Quite similar to me, actually! I'm glad she takes the time to think about it and doesn't immediately jump at the opportunity. It makes her decision to go with them (spoiler, I guess, but we saw it in the first episode) mean something more

CaribuCollageIndeed, there isn't all that much that I have to say about this episode. First half was very Aki heavy with tons of silly faces she makes, always fun. Second half was all about Nadeshiko getting deeper into her hobby, with her cohorts taking her to Bass Pro Shop. She gets to learn about more types of outdoor gear and absolutely falls in love with a gas lamp she promises to work her gambare to get! She's setting goals for herself to be able to get more gear and enjoy camping more. Very important step for her hobby to show that she's taking it more seriously. It's one thing to have a tent, a sleeping bag, and a burner. Those are the basics. When you start looking at impractical but cute decoration pieces like gas lamps, you know you're invested.This episode, Rin took a backseat more than any other, only appearing in one scene and to specifically comment on how Nadeshiko has gone whole hog on this whole camping thing. We also get a bit of insight into their study habits, and they continue to build up this Toba Sensei character. She looks really familiar, but I'm not sure why they keep talking about her. She's not even their club advisor, so it's like they're just kinda wasting time on a pointless side character. This is probably the only writing misstep of the season, honestly. It just goes nowhere. But atleast it's not wasting time during another episode where they actually camp or something

And lastly, they end off the day eating Minobu Manju, which Nadeshiko pointed out on a banner earlier in the episodeComfy snack by a pretty river.It was a good episode and a nice change of pace from the usual double episode arcs we get. It's sort of a set up episode, as they do get some new equipement and conceptualize Campmas, but it's not directly a set up into the next arc, so it's not really a set up anyways yeahI wonder if this thread will hit the limits considering there's much less to talk and post about lolI believe in us
This webm took a while. I'm not totally happy with it but it's good enough and I'm tired of working on it and I want to watch the rest of the episode.What I do for seasoning is just a single oil in hot pan cycle. Wipe up the extra oil when it cools. Then I cook (American) bacon in it, using the boil method. The bacon fat seems to be a perfect seasoning for my cast iron.
Last four stitches I've got, then I have to do some things to finish preparing for my trip

Binging the show as I did originally, this episode doesn't particularly stand out as being bad, but week-to-week this one does seem like the weakest of the season. Rin is barely in it, which is a shame. We do get a lot of OAC shenanigans but they aren't camping. It's not bad, it's just... kinda boring I guess. I like the comedy though, as always. There's just not a whole lot to talk about.But we do have a couple nice things to look forward to next week, apparently!
