Just finished the episode. It was pretty standard, I thought could it could have been directed better, I guess that anon was right when he said the 2xx (i forgot how many) frames per episode average was probably mostly effects. The direction of the episode had too many closeups imo and we didn't get the full flow of motion/events well enough. But, I'm assuming we'll get one standout episode out of every 2 of 3 episodes, and I'm still extremely happy with the season so far.

Ichika was the only one who came to Clover because she was apparently the best at making the devil power sharing work with Asta, but he never ended up buffing her so that went nowhere. Likewise all the teasing about the gateway to hell and the heavenly maiden amounted to nothing. The time wasted on all the Hino stuff could have been used to show what the rest of the cast were doing, but the preparations of Yuno, Noelle, the BBs and the captains were either only given a few pages or skipped entirely. The other kingdoms fared even worse with Heart and Spade doing nothing to help save the world, and don't give me any bullshit about how they needed to protect their homes when the elves and the Diamond crew had no problem leaving theirs to come help. The Diamond crew are a problem in their own right with how they showed up literally out of nowhere with zero setup, presumably because Tabata felt he had to show the earth spirit somehow before the end of the manga so he just randomly threw it in.Then there are all the things that were omitted. Not even a word of the dwarfs, no resolution to the witch that cursed Charlotte, only a couple of pages of backstory for Lucius who remained one-dimensional until the end, nothing about Astaroth beyond a mention at the start of the arc, no buildup to Adrammelech switching sides and so on. It's also ridiculous how established members of the cast like William, Dorothy and Kaiser kept getting shafted even in the finale and never got proper fights. Fuegoleon's long-awaited spirit dive was given a grand total of like 3 pages while Noelle and many other members of the cast never used the ultimate magics they trained with the elves to learn. Almost every plot point was either rushed or just abandoned.So yeah, the final arc was like a 5/10 at best.

It was an unfortunate situation out of his control that nonetheless ended up hurting the final arc of the manga and making it much worse than it could have been, especially in comparison to the rest of the series.The biggest tragedy here is that the anime could have easily fixed most of these issues with enough time investment, but the production committee seemingly decided against it. According to the leaks the final arc is going to be adapted in just 1 cour or 13 episodes, which means there are going to be few if any additions. A 2-cour adaptation would have literally doubled the length of the arc and allowed Tabata too add in all the missing details. Another option would have been to make a canon movie set during the 2nd timeskip. Tabata even mentioned in the data book that Mars visited a dwarf village, which would have made for a great scenario for a movie that sets up the later appearance of the Diamond crew including the earth spirit while simultaneously addressing the dwarfs and maybe other missing elements as well, while giving some neglected characters a chance to show off properly. There was even a third option of simply continuing to make the anime weekly instead of seasonal, in which case it could have easily covered everything in the form of anime original content. If totally pointless characters like the fucking devil banishers or whatever managed to get screen time then imagine how much attention could have been dedicated to actually important elements. But alas, everything seemingly fell flat in that regard. People wanted sakuga and got monkey's pawed in terms of content.

As it stands the resolution of this conflict was left open so we don't know if the situation is still unchanged or if Undine came clean to Loro and helped her grow or if Noelle somehow managed to convince Loro that there's nothing wrong with remaining weak. The third option would be quite ironic considering how Fuegoleon gave Noelle the exact opposite advice, but in theory it could be fitting given that water and fire are opposites. It doesn't really feel like something Noelle would say though. Either way, Loro's character arc was never fully resolved.

>>291600637It might be the visuals or recency bias but opening 14 might is in my top 3 right now.I think it has one of the best lyrics and the singer sounds like pouring his soul into the song, plus the instrumental is made to sound melancholic by default.The opening duration doesn't give it justice and the editor ended it wrong so it feels like it ends abruptly, but the full song shows that the best moment to end it was in the second chorus, not the first one, the first chorus doesn't have the same force or impact.Going back to other openings im realizing how static or repetitive they were with their visuals, or how even the worst animators/animation supervisors of the team were allowed to touch them, like that guy who draws Asta eyes like triangles genuinely ruined his walking closeup in opening 13, OP 14 might be the best looking one ever because the elite memebers of Pierrot's team were able to do it all themselves.
