Nomamoto (and her insane self-absorption) is being used to cut in between the nonsense wall the two have built so they can actually resolve their shit. It's poking a little fun at their theatrics but not outright trying to be meta and shit on the story. These two, specifically, need Nomamoto and her idiocy to force them to focus on something else because otherwise they'll keep wallowing in their roleplay session.
