A Japanese blog “Yaraon” compiled the birth and death dates of 219 mangakas, revealing that on average, they live for only 62.6 years, compared to the average lifespan of 83 years for Japanese men.

Holy fuck.
The health problems of a high stress role that demands you be constantly chained to a desk indoors sitting for multiple hours of a day with long nights and few breaks. I just read that interview where Kubo said a doctor told him he'd severed a tendon in his shoulder and had a partial fracture from the way he sits at his desk drawing. And they get into this so young many are teenagers when they first debut or very early twenties. It's just not healthy.

I want to see how this breaks between being serialized weekly and monthly. Probably the monthly ones live longer.

>219 mangakas
let me guess, 219 mangakas who just so happened to die young, out of the tens of thousands of mangaka that don't die young.
Great research

half of these niggas were born in the 1920s, not a great sample

Oda will die soon
>In May 2013, Oda was suspended for two weeks due to peritonsillar abscess (secondary to acute tonsillitis).
>In January 2019, in the interview program of Eiichiro Oda X Sanma at home, Oda mentioned that the doctor said he had the precursors of gout and diabetes, and said that he did not exercise enough and his blood circulation was very poor.
>In 2022, Akashi family Sanma learned that Oda had high blood pressure during the communication and gave Oda a blood pressure monitor.
>In October 2020, JUMP officially announced that Oda was suspended for two >weeks due to acute illness.
>In June 2023, Oda was suspended for four weeks due to eye surgery.
>In November 2024, Oda was suspended for two weeks due to poor health.
>Also he said he only sleeps 3 hours a day
>And he skips meals for days sometimes
+ shitty diet / energy drinks

I'm surprised he's still alive. One piece will be unfinished at this rate though

Stop.
Blaming.
The.
Job.
It's the retards' fault for not getting up for 5 minutes and stretching every hour, and they fucking deserve it.
>>
>>291586627
the older they were born the longer they lived
>>
Could it be some sort of chemical exposure thing
Like the guys born in 20's prob inhaled some ink, some guy tasted his brushes and got poisoned from it, maybe it seeps through the skin

With digital you obviously have no such issues, and you're free to switch up the work environment more easily with tablets, standing desks, going outside to take reference photos on smartphone and so on.

You're not an artist.
Sometimes you start drawing and before you realize you spend 3 hours drawing. Talking small breaks utterly destroy the ideas you're drawing too.
>>
Who wants to live forever?
>>
>>291586861
>just stretch bro
are you a retard
>>
>>291586432
now do this spreadsheet with mangaka who only do monthly serialisations

Stretching can't undo lost sleep, retard.
>>
>>291586432
>always stressed
>no sleep
>bad diets
>sedentary
Remember to walk for exercise and cut out excess sodium from your diets, anons.

No way warm piss ends before his death
>>
So mangaka live 25% shorter lives but since they only become mangaka as adults it's actually 33% cut on their remaining life?
>>
if drawing too much is unhealthy can't they just draw less and exercise?

i legit feel like I'm dying if I don't eat salty things
>>
>>291590761
Fun fact: salt has roughly the same addiction profile as sex. Which is 'not much'.
>>
>>291590721
Sitting a lot in monotonous way could fuck up cardiovascular system
blood clots, legs are compressing all the time
lack of regular blood vessel use
>>
>>291586432
I'm not sure to what degree overwork is a problem in the industry today, I hope the current crop of mangaka live longer. Heck the effect on the body has to be vastly different just between physical and digital art, right?
But it certainly was one for a long time and this issue can have lifelong effects.
>>
I expect Dr. Tezuka is right about sleep being the biggest factor.
>>
>>291586432
>62.6 years
Looks good enough
>>
>>291590761
oh well in that case anon gobble up, as every doctor says you should stop eating things that are bad for you, unless you really really want to and then its ok
>>
>>291590761
Eating lots of salt is a fun pre-mortal way of assisting your body in mummifying, if you do it right.

>>291586630
Oda is going to kill himself soon after realising he wasted his life on a bloated corpse of a manga for retarded nigger children who watch it communally in the favela.

Imagine how old she would have gotten if she had eaten less salt and worked as an engineer at a nuclear power plant instead of writing manga.

Buddhist monks have a healthier way of achieving that by eating nuts or something.

we're all gonna die anyways, why not die doing what you love?
for most people, the last 20 years past 70 can't be called life anyways
>>
>>291593530
I prefer my simple, snailpace life.
>>
>>291586432
Good for them, living that long is torture. I pity the ones who live around retards actively trying to extend their lifespans, for they're the ones paying the price.
>>
>>291586432
Turns out drawing all the time on short deadline kills you faster.
>>
>>291586432
I’ve read Seishun Shonen Magazine 1978-1983, so I understand why.
It’s a good read and it’s only 7 chapters.

I hope Morikawa comes back for Ippo
