Ero manga was pretty good, but why didnt it reach the same popularity and lasting influence as Oreimo?
I'll be the first to say, this sold 8000 Blu-Rays and blew up the Manga sales, it was very succesful.I've no idea why a S2 was never made, probably some bullshit Behind the Scenes Production thing.

Oreimo was objectively superior in the parts that mattered.And the parts that mattered were how otaku culture was portrayed. And Kuroneko. While I will not deny I hated Kirino more and much prefer Sagiri, Kirino interacted with a lot of people from the get go, be it her immediate normalfag (+ 1 schizo) squad or Saori & Kuroneko. These are all characters Kyousuke would not have bothered with otherwise. Sagiri's starting point of being bound to the indoors hurts her a bit, especially since the series has her name slapped on it. All if not most characters are someone Masamune could've easily met if Izumi was in the background and the big twist that she was his illustrator came in Volume 10 or something.

it's hard to compete with bitchy main girls.Sagiri was cute but forgettable and inoffensive.While you can think of Kirino, seethe at how annoying she was, but still probably have vivid scenes play back, which means something. And watching her de-ice was satisfying.

I dunno if the LNs are any better, but the Eromanga anime felt like a half-assed retread of the basic elements of Oreimo but without the stuff that made it good. It also just wasn't funny. They even got the same group to do the OP and the song is way less catchy.
