I wonder if Ciel is also weak to prayers/exorcisms because his soul is "tainted" with the devil's pact, or if an specially painful exorcism ritual can null the contract against Sebastian's will.

In the previous chapter Ciel watched Sebastian regenerate his wound (he knows Sebastian can do that, but he had never done it in front of Ciel on page), and now he learns there's something that can damage a demon.Now he has 100% confirmation AT LEAST some of Modri's tale about how to hurt demons could be true.

But I do agree that Ciel meeting Modri and seeing that he genuinely has the power to damage a demon is purposeful. The orphanage had secluded areas were they could prepare the bodies and transport them outside the facility, and the the hospital and the mansion didn't deal with corpses at all.
