So obviously Rimuru is beautifying his own actions in the story, though he does let some of his "inner" self out from time to time. Like how he tells the Orc Disaster "you've lost and now you are going to die" which is very different from how Rimuru usually expresses himself. Or pretty much anything Rimuru did starting with learning about there being casualties from the Falmuth attack until he started his evolution sleep. Finally the bit right after he recruits Glenda in the restaurant he wonders out loud why his actions of taking control of the economy would possibly anger anyone else when he is just a "harmless slime". He first acts clueless but then admits that he "had an inkling" and even Hinata who almost bought Rimuru's bluff that he really just "didn't notice" then knew that he is just bullshitting, especially when he suddenly changed the topic again. In the LN this is even more clear because Rimuru has a whole monologue about planning his economic take-over a volume before this restaurant scene. Rimuru is just selling a propaganda perspective on the events of the story.
