What's the general consensus of how the whole Shi clan drama rates as far as arcs of the series go? I found myself caring less about it the further I read and wasn't a fan of the conclusion, and the "romantic tension" scene with Maomao and Jinshi at the end put me off so badly I wanted to drop it right there.

Honestly, I think writing quality and consistency is Gust's biggest problem, from what I've seen. And I don't think they ever used detective mechanics. But if the author wrote the plot and the mysteries herself, maybe it's a non-issue. Or maybe the setting will ground them.I think a big part of whether it will be good depends on if they and Koei Tecmo perceive the game as the flagship or a cashgrab. I could honestly see it go either way. The thing that kinda worries me is the game coming out near the cour, since this usually doesn't end well for games, but we don't know how long it was in production and Gust are kinda used to deadlines like that too.At least what we can be sure will be GOAT with 95% probability is the soundtrack. If you care about good story structure just treat Season 2 as the end of the series as the next ~10 volumes of story has nothing impactful happening, hence why season 3 already feels like filler.
