i'm tired of these passive asexual feminine MCs and the endless blueballing and lukewarm inconclusive endings like they can't ever fucking commit to anything at all. every fucking show is the same there's fanservice in episode 1, episode 2-4 introduce the characters maybe throw in a beach episode at 5 then there's buildup for the main event and you often get another side character itroduced, 9-11 is the event that's inconclusive and badly written and nothing fucking happens
are japanese just unable to come up with an original progression? are they really that allergic to climax? it just never ends properly
why is there literally almost 0 anime where the characters end up dating instead of the simulatenuously proactive and hyperfeminine submissive main girl leading the mc by the nose? it used to be that at least the mc was a horny teenager or something instead of acting like a dead fish woman
>>
Have you tried playing something that is not DnD?

Wait, wrong board.
Have you tried watching different kinds of anime?
>>
>>291708272
obviously but i'm talking about romance genre
not like shonen anime is known for good endings either
>>
>>291708227
just read porn, dude. they're being blueballed endlessly because they're literally not allowed to fuck, even with blurred genitals
>>
>>291708227

Go to sites like CoolMic and Oceanveil. Put money on them and they'll hook you up.
>>
>>291708227
I miss the good ol' "pervy-but-good-hearted" protagonist trope, like in golden boy, it’s as if this can no longer exist, only pussies
>>
>>291708447
try watching normal romance instead of romcoms? maybe?
>>
>>291708227
Don't read them then!
>>
>>291709118
like what
>>291708690
porn is a different thing
you can't have a full length story with complex environment and characters in porn because it doesnt sell enough to be financially viable
>>
When I was in middle school there was a girl who treated me kind of like she was Nagatoro, but I thought she was really annoying. I told her to shut the fuck up and she left me alone for the rest of the year.
>>
>>291708227
>are japanese just unable to come up with an original progression?
Original ideas rarely get picked up en masse by the public.

Also yes cultures that are so culturally conformative that they bully people for having slightly brown hair instead of pure black are not known for strong media deviation. Take a look at Korea.
>>
>>291709938
i've met an italian girl kind of like that when i was a teenager but i only talked to her briefly on vacation
so fucking weird how people just talk to you abroad and they look so happy and everything, so alien to me
t. polack
>>
Then watch chick shit.
>>
>>291709965
i mean i just assume they have a very strict set in stone target and everything outside of that doesnt get funding
also this absolute lack of agency is really reinforcing learned helplessness i'm probably really projecting but it's horrible for your brain. like it shows you that you are not one to take action and men that do are always some burly archetypically evil types and you just need to be a nice guy and women flock to you, i think this stays in your brain
>>291710006
i could, i like china and their pre commie culture was probably much better than japan's, though this looks more like shoujo
any recommendations?
>>
>>291708227
I know a few romcoms where the characters have a conclusive ending, but some of them still have wimpy no balls MCs.

You could try out the following:
Aharen-san Is Indecipherable
The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt
The Dangers in My Heart
>>
>>291708227
men dont even like romance, they only like seeing hot girls and having sex with them. for good romance you read romance written by women
>>
>>291708227
Kill yourself, /co/ckroach.
>>
The romance is not the point, the limit is the character dynamic.
>>
>>291708227
Your pic related does end up dating though. Ultimately you need to watch more anime.
>>
>>291710258
I like how the author was 110 chapters in and went "Oh shit I forgot to give Nagatoro any character growth I better throw in a tournament arc."
>>
For whatever reason, editors push for romance in stories, but the author has no interest in writing it, so they just shove it in there somewhere to shut the editor up.
>>
>>291710326

FUCK these Editors, then.

Find a way to popularize these works without these assholes. Shit is NOT the American music industry of the 80s and 90s.
>>
There were charts and greentexts posted a few years ago claiming that western media companies (hehe) intended to subvert Japanese anime by forcing certain tropes and character archetypes, like the passive ntr male MCs and crossdressing supporting characters, to become commonplace in anime, which was suposed to happen alongside an increase of anime being streamed on western subscription based streaming services.

Anyone remember what I am referring to?
>>
>>291710326
Isn't it the opposite with editors behind the addition of a new girl to prolong the romantic development, extend the length of the series, and drive more engagement?
>>
>>291708227
Naoto does start off like a passive submissive type, but he very slowly builds up confidence and gets the girl over the entire course of the series.
But then there is other shows liked Makeine and Chiramune where there is an unnatural asexual force working against the main character to keep them single and passive while they (the MC) help the girls around them to build confidence and get boyfriends, all without being asked to.

Romance is the fundation of all of mens motivations throughout all of human history. Its why it shows up in stories. Its more of a modern thing the idea of people not wanting romance in stories.

Herbivore MCs are here to stay except for sex stories because competent male leads makes romcom readers angry. It's why they're entirely all found in shoujo romcoms because girls don't want to read about loser boys who fidget at the thought of holding hands or speaking to a girl.
>>
Saikyosoubi has him plapping a virgin in the second episode.
>>
>>291710942
Then we get boring wimpy female leads who are being chased by guys of high status instead of the reverse.

>male lead is perpetually annoyed at the female lead and still is annoyed to no end by her even 40+ chapters in
odd romcom dynamic, I should look up if the author is female because it just occured to me this entire thing is such "woe is me I am le tragedy even though I brought it all upon myself" fantasy of a man fixing a bitch's entire life at a great detriment to himself, but his reward "i will allow you to exist in my orbit" from the woman
>>
>>291711339
Based on that one image I thought the romantic interest was the person shoving her around and that was different, but then it occurred to me that's probably a flashback and the actual romantic interest is her savior.

story is college guy working the night-shift at 7/11 spots a a girl who was cold/bullied him from highschool covered in bruises. turns out she dropped out of college, ran away from home and moved in with the banker guy who then beat her ass. that page was after he gets her to go to his apartment instead of going home to the abuser and she starts offering him sex while he NOWAYFAGs her (justifiably so)

it's way more drama than romcom, but there's a lot of romcom elements
>>
>>291711339
So far i see this manga a superior, more realistic romcom compared to fucking Higehiro, so it's all good
>>
>>291711524
it was pretty grounded until the second-GF stalked the MC and FMC and then tried to stab them
>>
>>291711602

>>
>>291711666
The guy gets more tolerable as the story progresses btw, re-reading the early chapters makes him very prissy.

Overall, it's a pretty tasteful story for such a serious topic.
>>
>>291710869
I've been reading this and while I enjoy it, I don't feel like he's really "growing" that much. He's a service top and she's a power bottom and he manages to magically read her mind and give her what she wants without her having to ask for it 95% of the time. It reads like a straightforward love story except with heavy BDSM themes.
>>
>>291710258
what? not in anime
youre right though i should read the manga
>>291710890
honestly they're more feminine than actual girl characters half of the could be good concubines
>>291711404
could be non paranoid schizophrenia i get very vaguely confused a lot of the time
i'm NOT getting it diagnosed though
>>
>>291711941
Maybe I was reading into it too much but him being able to do things to her without crying about it before hand more and more as time went on felt like growth to me. But then again Senpai from Nagatoro does have a small character arc as the story goes on so maybe its more the principal of them being weak in the first place that people have issue with.
>>
>>291712049
NTA, but I agree with him. He isn't really growing, he's just playing more into her hands and losing control. The levels of psychic "just cruel enough" is really contrived and also he just keeps repeating the same 3 things over and over (piss yourself, ryona, shibari)
>>
>>291712163
I don't mind the psychic he can just tell parts as much because I understand from a writing point having to ask if something is fine every minute can get annoying.
>>
>>291712163
>same 3 things over and over
I wonder if thats a case of its just the authors fetishes
>>
So can anyone explain this hypermasculine movement on the nerdsphere. also how people here become nazis. its like doesnt make sense to me at all
>>
>>291712862
Yea, probably. I kinda stopped caring to follow up when he finally goes from slapping her to punching her and that was the last TL'd chapter when I was reading. It just kinda got old of it going in circles of her gushing about how he's the the perfect top due to his psychic powers, makes her humiliate herself and ties her up, then they go on an outing where she's an oblivious ojou and he does some poorfag activity that blows her mind.

The fact it got to 90 chapters that maybe BDSM people are starving and will take what they can get, because it kinda got old.
>>
>>291708227
you are in control of which animes you watch
>>
>>291712905
>BDSM people are starving
Yes we are and that is a big appeal of the series. despite everything being started earlier being true 90% of BDSM manga is just rope play and nothing else since its so popular in Japan. So in a weird way it has way more content then most series the fact that it has multiple about spanking is pretty shocking.
Also in the threads vain as crazy as it sounds Sawada is way more on the masculine side despite him being written as being weak as weird as it sounds. BDSM manga have a real problem of the author is often very clearly uncomfortable dealing with the MC hitting girls and makes them go on an arc questioning it and come back to a weird half ass I will do it. The series greatest strength is the author does like and get the appeal of BDSM.
>>
>>291713039
I found a pretty common complaint in the comments of this series is that the author glosses over a lot of the safety aspects of BDSM whether it's by design of the story of her wanting a full out extreme relationship with no boundaries or that it's unnecessary for storytelling and it should be understood that both of them know their limits.

As a non-BDSM fag who read it and enjoyed it, I felt that transition from him slapping as a toy of her will to him hitting her with fists was pretty uncomfortable. I dunno if it was symbolic of him growing as a top/man or him giving in to despair and assaulting her under the guise of their play.

Guess I'll go give it a re-read since this manga has held a spot in my mind and I've been curious how it progressed from when I stopped but I couldn't remember the name.
>>
>>291713170
The story does glosses over a lot of the safety aspects that people have in real life and thats pretty common for BDSM. The author seems to be doing it for the sake of pacing and storytelling in my opinion but that still is going to upset a lot of people.

>socially active, good-looking teenager
>socially inactive/awkward teenager with an 'average' appearance
The questions would be: Which of those two potential groups buys more manga? And: Which of those groups is more likely to have sex, and, and tries to have it as often as possible rather than reading about fictional characters doing it?

A) there is some
B) Because source material like that is statistically more likely to be adapted to a cartoon than to a live action.

It's almost like cartoons are for little loser children, but really, it's not that hard to find at all.

Is she a wants the MC to be her new dad type of women?
>>
>>291715009
That seemed to be the relationship with her abusive ex-boyfriend, but while living with MC she's trying to be more independent and even suggested to take a part time job. She also offered herself to MC at least twice but he refused because he could tell she was forcing herself into it. She's damaged goods and he's helping her heal at barely any benefit, so clearly a female writer.
>>
>>291708227

>>
>>291715163
Very female author because it has the whole Gojou and Marin thing where Marin takes non-stop from the guy and the guy is repayed with "I taught you how to live, now you no longer have to be a stinky introvert!!"

even though the MC had a GF who was friends with the feMC and he teams back up with his ex to help heal the feMC
