Because it highlights the worst part of any hentai: the plot and character interactions, especially anything comedy. I'd rather just read a hentai with straightforward and honest romance dialogue if I need something more substantial than the usual. As for romcoms, characters acting like lobotomized autists at least makes sense if it's about inexperienced school age kids fumbling with romance, stories that introduce actual sex just make the retarded character interactions even more jarring. Like, you're intimate enough to fuck, why can you still not communicate like a human being with your partner? It's not funny.

Its not that I hate them but most that I have read do a terrible job at balancing characters and having sex.
