The humor in the FGO version was all gachaslop jokes taken straight from the game. The great thing about the original Carnival Phantasm is that even if you've never played a single Type Moon VN or watched any of the anime you'll still find it entertaining, it's simply funny by its own merits, innovating and building on the source material, rather than relying on self-referential humor and asking the audience to laugh to the same tired old jokes as before but this time in anime form

I think that's because, compared to FSN and Tsukihime, fgo is already way less serious and being so long it already used a lot of comedy ideas in events. CP was basically using 10+ years of fandom unused memes + some really strong new ideas, FGOCP had to work with less than 5 years and most of those were already used before
