I hope he somehow makes it.
>>
You faggots bullied him and caused this.
>>
>focus on palliative care, wishing to conserve his strength and devote himself to his creative work
damn
>>
>>291716959
This is like a plot he'd write
>>
Very honorabu yamato damashi sugoi
>>
>>291716922
It's fucking over
>>
>literal gacha cancer
Bravo Nolan
>>
My mother died of the same type of cancer, it's a fucking rough way to go. You gradually stop being able to swallow, speak, and then breathe unassisted.
And yeah, for her the treatment didn't do fuck all either(though she was diagnosed very late due to extreme incompetence of our healthcare system) other than make her weaker, and you can't exactly cut out someone's throat.
Awful news for him.
>>
Damn he gave himself Key Aids, RIP
>>
>creator of KeyAIDS gets KeyAIDS
pottery
>>
Throat cancer is meh tier cancer
>>
>write a story about fighting cancer
>get diagnosed with cancer
Who is writing this shit? Kojima?
Seriously tho, who cursed Maeda, didn't he need a heart transplant like a decade ago?
>>
Well shit.
>>
>>291716922
I know we don't like him and all,
but that's rough.
I wish him the best.
>>
that sucks
>>
He'll be fine, he's got five orbs of light. H-haha. Fuck.
>>
>>291716922
>cancer from drinking tea that is too hot

>Palliative Care
It is over...
>>
>>291717002
Sure but haven't we seen some major advancements in cancer treatment lately?
>>
>>291717023
Kill yourself.
>>
And to imagine he won heart transplant lottery just to get caught by cancer.
>>
Are you happy now /a/? Is this what you wanted?
>>
>>291716959
I did that
>>
>>291716955
Seems pretty fucking unlikely considering he's not seeking treatment.
>>
I was laughing hysterically by the end of Clannad when Ushio also dies of Key AIDS due to how relentless and over the top the tragedy was, but I have to apologize to Maeda now. He lived by example.
>>
>>291717114
i mean im not going to complain about it
>>
What was the last good anime he was involved with?
>>
Did he become a cute anime girl too?
>>
His stories are always hit or miss, the biggest loss for me is going to be his music.
>>
>caused primarily by drinking and smoking
Don't do booze and cigs, kids.

AIR, Kanon, Clannad, ONE, Angel Beats I loved all of those. I find it really short-sighted how people criticize "KEY AIDS" storylines in light of this. Acting like terminal illness is some rare melodramatic unicorn event means only perceiving things in the short term. Life is a terminal illness. Everyone fucking dies. It's stupid to criticize these stories for that.
>>
>>291717214
Do people even know it's not a real quote?
>>
sad, this album is kino
>>
>>291716922
honestly, I don't really like any of Key works, maybe apart from Clannad, but it's a really sad news and I hope Maeda can somehow get better
>>
>>291717243
>chose palliative care instead treatment
Sadly, he will need a Key miracle for him to get better.
>>
>>291717255
But it's extremely treatable
Odd choice

>>

probably already late stage
>>
>>291717264
all cancer depends mostly on how late you manage to find it.
>>
>>291716922
>working on a music project
Damn that's gonna be a rough listen, these death bed projects always are. Especially from a guy that already makes very emotional music. I still have a tough time listening to a lot of Eri Kawai's final music like Tanpopo Suisha without bawling my eyes out.

What the fuck
We have to convince him to get treatment wtf
He's too obsessed with the possible poetic nature of his predicament
Someone convince him to get treatment
What the fuck
The next gen needs his genes bro. He is a human spirit cultivator
>>
>>291717293
I loved this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X9mrJVHbJU
>>
>>291716922
Not that worried. honestly. He'll probably show up as a ghost in the last chapter anyway.
>>
>>291717264
Pharyngeal cancer is actually a very broad term and how treatable it is depends on exact type of it, position and how developed it is.
A small, HPV-positive tumor in upper parts of the throad would be an easy thing to deal with. Larger tumor located closer to esophagus and not related to HPV is fucking brutal, 20% of 5-year survival at best.
>>
>>291717320
>throad

Excuse my fucking ESL but I just woke up. Also I'm kinda sad.
>>
Oddly poetic in a way.
>>
>>291717264
>>291717320
Doesn't he also have a heart problem along with a bunch of other conditions? Multimorbidity is awful.
>>
>>291717293
I remember I thought Hana no Tou sounded like it was sung someone who was at the end of her life and she really died not long after
>>
>>291717343
Yeah, idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy that ultimately would need a heart transplant one day.
With that in mind any aggressive treatment would probably just kill him on the spot.
>>
>>291717300
"Treatment" for later stage cancer often less likely means a cure and more likely means a year or two more of life (but at a very unpleasant cost). Maeda probably looked at his options and thought "nah, I'm good".
>>
>>291716922
Man that sucks to hear. Remember to take care of yourselves anons
>>
>>291717002
I am sorry for your loss.
>>
>>291717363
>heart transplant
yeah his immune system probably was already trash from the meds. Any treatment for cancer except maybe surgery would just nuke it and make him go faster
>>
>got KEY AIDS at the very end

What the fuck.
>>
>Angel Beats will never be complete for real now
I had a small hope, wtf man. Life is really unfair.
>>
Is it too autistic to write to him and say to donate his sperm so that we can have more great writers like him in the next generation?
>>
>>291717401
Genes don't work like that, anon.
>>
>>291717412
Okay, then how do we arrange purely economic factors so that we can have more great writers like him in the next generation?
>>

Cool it with the anti-semitism.
>>
>>291717427

For the rich people of course. And just like that news about fixing the retina of the eye and growing your teeth back it's gonna take at least 5-9 years before they release something for everyone.

Maeda has nothing to do with great writers. Planetarian is the only good Key VN btw.

Yes. Jun Maeda is a godly musician. For me it's Owari no Sekai Kara (don't know why they suddenly removed it from youtube)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KzVot-fo6M
Maeda may sometimes have issues in the fleshing out of his stories, but he really knows how to bring together elements that'll make you cry.

holy shit its really over

he should get treatment
we are in a moment in history where extending the lifespan even by just a year could make all the difference for treating cancer
>>
>>291717401
Every single thing he has worked in after clannad has been garbage to the point i have always thought clannad was good because of the other writers
One of his last works was so bad he actually was looking to kill himself a few years ago after the backlash

Can't believe yuri actually killed Maeda. Cancer doesn't last that long so probably just a funny coincidence kek.

>>
>>291716922
I pray he pulls through, throat cancer is treatable but tough man.
>>
>>291717093
No, lol. All "advancements" are around detection. We're 5 or even 10 years out from actual treatment that isn't just poisoning your body and hoping the cancer cells all die before you do.
>>
>>291717960
>poisoning your body and hoping the diseases die before you do.
This is just medical in general
>>
>>291717727

>>
>>291717293
>>291717350
It always hits me hard thinking about how Sayuri's final music video and album is Sanketsu Shoujo, her signature song from back when she was just a girl doing street performances around Japan barefoot before she made it big. That song must've taken on a new meaning for her through her battle with chronic illness and struggling with the knowledge that she's slowly dying and losing her ability to sing, the one thing she lives for.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L72R8VFVNEY
Even more heartbreaking is her husband, whom she married shortly before her death (no doubt because she wanted to be married to him in the little time they had left together), writing a song that was released a few weeks before her death which in retrospect is clearly about how he's not ready to lose her. You can hear his quivering voice on the verge of breaking.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HuI7QD1xTs
>>
Fuck this is messed up. He's only 51 as well.
Just what do you have to do get a cancer so early in your life? Or is it just luck based?
>>
>>291717255
Ivemectin is the treatment, but then japan is WHO's bottom bitch..
>>
>>291717977
Not really ART is much better at actually targeting viral load than chemo is.
Chemo is literally just poison, same with radiation. We simply don't have the tech to deal with cancer cells ability to adapt in a sophisticated manner.

Cancer is essentially a thousand different illnesses. You can make major advancements in curing 10, but it will have no effect on the other 990.

Pharyngeal cancer is largely caused by smoking and alcohol, so avoid that and you're probably gonna fine. With other cancers it's more complicated, though avoiding tobacco and alcohol is a good idea either way.

In his case it's probably stress and the subsequent burnouts over the years caused by the pressure of online critics. Not everyone is built to handle that.
