Its not that bad
>>
Nobody thinks it's bad outside of contrarian faggots and people that hate Japan
>>
>>291719557
Not bad but i dropped it in vol 10
>>
I think it blows personally.
>>
>>291719557
I thought it was okay, not a fan of reincarnation but whatever, it fit the story.
I've seen a lot of worse shonen endings lately, so yeah, could have been way worse.
>>
>>291719557
It's just a simple, slightly above average story with rather nice ending. It's biggest mistake was making a lot of money at this day and age

I actually thought this was a medieval show until it got to the last episode of season 1 and there was a train station, what the fuck??
>>
>>291719557
>Its not that bad
What is this? Unpopular opinions but not really? Tons of people like Demon Slayer or it wouldn't get top-tier production or become one of the highest grossing movies in the world in 2025.

>>291720237
Reincarnation was lame IMO too but whatever, didn't impact the rest of the story, just felt like a simpy fanfic epilogue which was weird.

I didn't read about the manga at all as I read the manga itself. I wasn't surprised to hear rumors it was rushed to end, it certainly felt like it.
>>
>>291719557
I wouldn't say bad but it could have been a lot better - especially towards the end.
>>

Regular Japs didn't stop dressing like that until after ww2. So it tracks out

Anon there were electric poles and lights in city when Tanjiro went there halfway s1.

It is a very mediocre series that's just another by-the-numbers exorcist manga with a boilerplate story that was done before it and better, and after it and better. Anime and manga about demon slaying are a dime a dozen. The story itself isn't novel and the characters aren't charismatic enough to warrant any deep discussions.

Having said that, it's not the worst series I've come across but it is definitely the most overrated I've come across where there's a distinct cognitive dissonance between what the fans (and especially the normie Japanese) are hyping with the actual content. And I find the appraisal surrounding it to be also very deceitful and insincere when the praise are predominantly about the production value of the anime which is the reason why it boosted the badly drawn mid-tier manga's sales up to 220 million copies sold in circulation. I'm not one to believe anime boost is a sole factor for a mango's success, but this is probably the most blatant one yet and the most obvious industry plant. I would be less harsh if the fandom can come upfront and say they love Demon Slayer *by Ufotable* and not necessarily Demon Slayer *by Koyoharu Gotouge*.
>>
>>291719557
I feel like the only person that liked season 1. It felt lonelier and I liked the slower pace.

>>
>>291727886
Demon Slayer is just traced Naruto and Bleach but the artist made an inherently inferior product that somehow is neither as influential as Bleach or has the staying power of Naruto
>>
>>291730015
Naruto aint looking too hot right now
>>
>>291726213
Demon slayer is special because while it has a very typical story for a shounen manga, it manages to avoid most of the pitfalls that wind up ruining such stories. It's a battle manga where all fights are to the death. It's a story that invokes characters' families and emotions, but there's no power of friendship. It's just a well executed story that does exactly what it sets out to do, and nothing else. I say as someone who was a prior to the adaptation that there's something very compelling about Wani's writing despite its simplicity.

The praise is mainly in the production value because the series has been over for 6 years. Most fans already know how the story is going to play out and discussed it so the only new thing to discuss is how the production will adapt it. I firmly believe KnY's explosive success has less to do with it being innovative storywise and more to do with it being the story people needed and wanted to see again. This is especially true for the Japanese where the most dominate anime for the past decade were European/Western settings/styles with MCs mainly looking out for themselves and isekai.

This. Also the manga's pacing is pretty good.
>>
>>291729430
This was retconned by the anime, thoughbeit.
>>
>>291719557
Its actually good in its simplicity.
>>
>>291731639
>It's a story that invokes characters' families and emotions, but there's no power of friendship.
The main character gets a power-up from the memories of his father that saves him in the nick of time and he gets another flashback in the castle arc that conveniently makes him invisible, again, a memory from spending time with his dad.
>>
>>291732640
Not him but I love that shit, it's always cool when the the MC gets a new technique or transformation on the brink of death, only homos complain about "bad writing" or "asspulls" when it happens, real men appreciate the hype. Stories that try to justify and explain everything stumble over themselves and kill their own excitement.

>>
>>291719557
it was good until it got to the end where it became super obviously rushed for whatever reason. there should've been a lot more build up before infinity castle. tanjiro going demon was a really interesting setup only to get deus ex machina'd 5 seconds later which begs the question of what the fucking point was in the begin with. demon tanjiro shouldve been an entire arc.

Sorry chud, you MODERN AND SUBVERSIVE “masterpieces” with all their “REALISTIC WRITING” ended up both in self-retconned wet farts.
Meanwhile KimetsuCHADs still rojoyce for their manga almost a decade later

It’s a firm 6.5/10 in my opinion.

>>291719557
I still list it among my favorite series, partly due to my experience reading it with /a/
It has a lot of flaws but is still a solid series. Might be too simplistic for some people though I disagree with the notion that it's shallow. Would argue for a very simplistic and generic series, many still get stuff wrong somehow. Don't think those people actually get the series they claim to enjoy honestly.

Unironically, Kimetsu is arguably the most similar to Bleach in so many ways but it makes sure characters who die actually die. Compare the latest episode of Bleach where no one died versus the final chapters of Kimetsu where it has a very high body count of named characters.

Same. It's quite rare to have an anime take place in the post-Meiji era that closely blends traditional Japanese culture and the emerging Westernization like that. Most other historical-setting anime would rather prefer the Warlords / Edo / Sengoku etc eras
>>
>>291719557
the general opinion is, it's too generic and does nothing impressive, just average demon slaying series
because that's what it is
>>
>>291739429
It also fits into the story organically, unlike Naruto where aside from clothing the 2000s settings made no sense, it only matters in the Zabuza arc where you can see construction workers

It was fine enough with some pretty egregious asspulls. The final confrontation was good until the Muzan fight took 5 thousand fucking years to finish and he turned into a giant baby. That was fucking weird. And the epilogue was the drizzling shits

I just call anything that has swords, traditional costumes, monsters and magic "medieval". Anyway I just realised this whole thing is just the reverse situation of pic related.
>>
>>291733081
I also like that the writer avoided another pitfall of shonen tropes where a character gains a powerup and becomes invincible with almost no drawbacks. In a sense KnY should be a mandatory reading for anyone who wished to write shonen, some kind of guide to avoid terrible mistakes in shonen writing.
>>
>>291719557
What I want to know is, how the fuck did only one guy come to the conclusion that you could make a gun out of the same shit they make their swords out of and have said gun be more effective than their swords? Against low level demons, anyways.
>>
>>291719557
It's a solid shonen. It's not the best or anything, but does what it does quite well.
>>
>>291740291

>>
>>291742482

>>
KnY is not your typical shonen manga like Naruto or JJK, if you judge it only by the shonen aspect of it of course it's not very good. It's a lot more closer to FMA than to Naruto.
>>
>>291744532
Small caliber stuff would still slow them down, large caliber stuff would fuck ‘em up, large caliber stuff with a high fire rate would utterly dogwalk most demons. I mean, the fuck is a demon gonna do if you blow its head off with a shotgun from 25 yards away, or how is it going to fight a machinegun when it can effectively saw off all its limbs (or render them inoperable) in no time flat? Really, I feel like guns only don’t work for the higher tier demons.

Probably not a lot, if any. They also 100% lack the tooling to make anything beyond single shot black powder firearms. That’s why you take your not magic magical steel to an actual arsenal, either in Japan or abroad. Or, buy tooling and expertise and have them train the swordsmiths. Considering the fact that the slayer corps has enough money to mobilize a small army, they could totally afford some better equipment. Maybe then all their guys wouldn’t get jobbed.

Maybe because you're a speedreader. To kill a demon, you have to use a special type of metal to cut off its head. This might shock you, but swords are better than guns at cutting someone's head off. There's a reason the only guy with a nichirin gun was the scrub who couldn't use breaths.

Its probably the last major WSJ series to have a tolerable to good ending without dragging on forever until it rushes an ending or plainly sucks ass like MHA, Promised Neverland, Blue Box, etc.

Basically a white supremacist manga by today's standards...
I think that's why the story resonates so much with people, it's a positive story of work and sacrifice. It really doesn't seem like it was written by a woman when you look at it from this perspective, but when you look at the art and other details of the story it does seem like it was written by a woman.
People call it generic but I don't agree at all, I find it to be quite unique once you look beneath the immediate surface.

A badly designed character of which you need other artists and an entire ass anime studio to draw to make her look less hideous because Demon Slayer has one of the ugliest artstyles I had the displeasure to gaze upon. You're not man enough to post how your low-tier waifu actually looks by the actual creator because the creator is truly, truly a bad artist. You're an insincere coward like the rest of you inferior lifeforms.

For the same reason why Wit Studio made Hajime Isayama's hideous art presentable, Ufotable made the Demon Slayer hack's ugly ass art presentable but the characters are still ugly unlike Shingeki's because Demon Slayer characters look like underages. Shingeki characters actually look their age. I get this feeling that Demon Slayer are pedophiles, which explains their attraction for the little sister.

Dropped it once they introduced the rest of the hashira. Literally only started it because I like Giyuu, my nigga had so much time between first meeting Tanjiro and Nezuko and seeing them again, to inform the other hashira "hey there's this kid who's training became a slayer, his sister is stuck mid-demon transformation and may not be a threat, go easy on him"
I know it's a modern shonen battle slop but come the fuck on, that's just lazy writing
