Troll thread but I recently watched the first one and disliked it so I'll take it seriously.My main complaints were David's lack of motivation, OPness, and lack of any need for his extreme chroming; Lucy's extreme blandness; and the lack of heat between them. I liked Kiwi and Faraday (I love the Makoto "the D" Isshiki archetype) and wish it had focused more on them and generally corpo spook wars of assassins. I also suspect that Kiwi and Lucy were originally going to be the same character, but were split to make Lucy more sympathetic, which if so was a horrible mistake.Anyway, here are my ideas for how I'd have rewritten it to work better:>Drop Lucy's backstory with Arasaka and give her some of Kiwi's sexier design. She's now just a poor girl who's made a living on the streets; for her the younger David, as affiliated with Arasaka, represents (quite strangely to him) wealth and mobility.>David lusts for Lucy for obvious reasons; she represents the inverse to him of what he means to her. He pursues her and she accepts him, at first strictly for selfish motives, but she starts to truly appreciate him and open up after he proves himself.>At Lucy's urging, David *takes up* Arasaka's offer for the scholarship and they start grooming him; he thus has a foot in both worlds and is Arasaka's liaison with Maine's gang *against* Militech. >Avenging his mother is now an actual motive for David; after his first few jobs with Maine's gang he starts pushing to go after the gang that killed her and find out who paid for that driveby.>As it turns out, of course, it was Arasaka themselves.>David now finds himself committed to revenge against Arasaka *whom he is still working for*, which alienates Lucy who sees him as throwing away their future.>Not sure where Faraday fits in this version; maybe he starts with Arasaka? Or maybe he is still Militech, and David contacts him to move against Arasaka, but for whatever reason Faraday still wants to defect?
