I don't understand why the fuck Silva just let two of his sons join the Phantom Troupe after telling Killua to not fuck with them. Especially Kalluto, who is younger than Killua but apparently already knew Nen before Killua did. And he only joined so he could get the skill to get Killua back, but Troupe members are members for life, there's no resignation but death. So I don't understand what Kalluto thinks he's doing except for becoming a bandit for the rest of his life.

Sex with older men

>>291735375
It's pretty simple. Illumi is a grown man and can do whatever he wants. Kalluto isnt Killua so Silva gives less of a shit about what he does.
He cares enough to warn them, not enough to baby them.
>>
>>291735375
Tbf Kalluto is younger than Killua yet was taught nen way before he was. I think it has something to with them trying to protect Killua since he’s the “special” heir one in their family (white hair). Though I will say I’m pretty sure kalluto joined the PT because he was desperate to get his brother back and doesn’t really consider himself apart of the troupe. He basically doesn’t know what he’s gotten himself into.
>>
>>291735375
because Silva obviously doesn’t give a fuck about any of his sons other then killua, the rest could die for all he cares

I want Togashi to make a character so strong that he doesn't even need Nen, just kills Nen users without engaging with the system at all
>>
My problem with a lot of these Kurtmassacre theories is that they rarely address Kurapika from a narrative standpoint and a twist from a meta standpoint . It’s almost always troupe centric.
For example, one of the theories like the Metero city elders helped influence the troupe to do the massacre….okay cool , but how does this affect Kurpaika’s story? The Kurta massacre happened s Kurpaika’s main thing, not the troupe. If you’re Togashi , what would a meteor city twist do for Kurpaika’s story?
It’s just one example but you get my gist
>>
>>291735851
This also goes for shit like “it’ll be revealed the massacre was done to upgrade Chrollo’s abilities”. What? That’s a pointless twist. It adds nothing to Kurapika’s story. If Kurapika found that out it would change absolutely nothing
>>
>>291735874
Final post. If I’m crafting the perfect twist, I think it’d have to do 4 things.
>reveal something shocking
>notably Affect Kurapika’s view
>notably affect the readers understanding or view of the troupe
>affect the dynamic of Kurapika and the troupe

It's pretty cool how Chrollo fights, never know if he'll pull out some dangerous object or a random ability he stole. One of the things I loved about YYH were the detective gadgets Yusuke got, and later the items at the demon tournament that brought out Kurama and Kuwabara's latent power. Guess it's like how people have nostalgia for Gon's fishing rod, maybe he'll learn to conjure one.
>>
>>291735375
Silva was talking about fighting them, but he may've said it out of bitteress over whatever happened when he fought Chrollo, maybe a Zoldyck died. Because he still took on the job of assassinating Chrollo, but he brought Zeno, another white-haired Zoldyck. This also explains why they care so much about Killua, to maintain the family's prestige, they need to be capable of producing top tiers who can work with the rest of the family on such jobs.

This is how I feel about the Pariston=Sheila idea and that it was all orchestrated, Kurapika has some mild connection to Pariston by succeeding him in the zodiacs, but a twist like that would have to involve a bigger enemy, like the initial buyer who wanted Kurta eyes being the true enemy. So that's where Tse's faction comes in to shift the story, like in your points.

I think the Pariston=Sheila would be relevant enough to center itself around Kurapika. Someone powerful enough in the Hunter Association being a mastermind in the massacre could completely reframe Kurapika's relationship with the organization.

I do however think that Pariston is a twin or sibling of Sheila and not Sheila herself.
>>
>>291738082
I wouldn’t mind that. In a “there’s a bigger bad that played the troupe too” plot twist, both meteor city and the Kurta are victims of exploitation and were used by a bigger power to have their own conflict for that bigger powers interest, which would be another “omg this kind of happens in the real world!” Moment for many readers

My only problem with that is that it kind of gets far away from Kurapika’s core story but I’m fine

At this point I think any Pariston theory has to be looked at with a potential Beyond glasses. As in, Beyond could be a co-mastermind in any Pariston theory.

>>291739418

Furthermore, even if Pariston and Beyond had planned the Kurta massacre together, it would make sense for them to have done so in order to ingratiate themselves with Tserri. The timeline would add up since Tserri is likely in his 30s.

>>
>>291739457
Imagine if the reveal happens and it’s some giant conspiracy that involves every party from the meteor city elders, Kakin mafia, Pariston, Sheila, beyond, Kakin, troupe, Pairo, other kurtas, kek.

I actually think Togashi is smartly leaving many thing ambiguous to shroud any potential clarity for theorizing. including having the troupe leave the meteor city creed that the elders loved to use. I don’t think the elders were involved, but in involving the creed, Togashi leaves it too ambiguous to find any concrete conclusion.

There was an anon arguing Tserriednich would've been too young as a teenager, but princes have a lot of influence at a young age, and he'd have been beyond his years in intelligence. That's probably when a lot of anons looked at gore threads on /b/.

>>291739780
>to shroud any potential clarity for theorizing.
That's what I'm enjoying about SC personally, he demonstrates some savvy towards his own workpace by doing that. I think broadening just how far the Kurta massacre goes will leave Kurapika wondering when he has to stop pursuing revenge in favor of justice. Because if there's a whole system making this possible, then he'd have to address that in a more sophisticated way than just killing people off. I think that way, he could still have that core arc of getting back at the Troupe and "retire" as some kind of political advocate.
>>
>>291739457
Yeah there's some strings, Kurapika has already been talking about getting entangled with Beyond, so if he looks into Beyond's lawsuits, he could get a clue about Kakin's connection to the Kurta massacre. We also saw that he's thinking about contacting Gon, who could set him up with Ging for whatever reason, and that leads him to interacting with Pariston. I guess what we're missing from all this is how involved Pariston and Beyond are, and how it'd be revealed if so, since the most popular theory is that they orchestrated Netero's death.

Killua is Silva's heir.
His other kids are kept at a distance.

Silva seems to regard him more as someone who works in the same field, not as a true son.
>Milluki
Doesn't talk much to Silva, but Zeno treats him as a lackey.

Only seen with his mom, never has a scene with Silva.
>Alluka
Outright treated as a monster.
I imagine Silva just doesn't use condoms and decides his heir based on hair colour.
>>
>>291746079

That’s the things. We get no in depth explanation of the history from their founding to current time outside of unexplained events.
Why did so many new members rotate out or die yet no founding members died? Seems unrealistic .
Why was a former member important enough to have Silva hired to kill them…important enough to the troupe that Chrollo foughts Silva over it when it happened.

Obviously the beginnings of such a group would require powerful people.
Also, the innate hypocrisy about the Troupe is that they do care deeply about each other (at least the founding members do) despite their live and let live attitude.
>Why was a former member important enough to have Silva hired to kill them…
The members they recruit tend to be a toss-up, with present criminals in some capacity being some of them.
According to the HxH wiki, the person he killed was Shizuku's predecessor, so it was already a spot that was filled by a recruit and not a founding member.

It makes sense when you put it that way. It's just that some stuff just seems cloudy to me in togashi's worldbuilding. LIike meteor city.
Why does it seem like only the elder who used sun and moon had nen and defended the city (outside of the troupe), despite the flashback saying "nen abilities started to manifest amongst the city elders". Where are these nen using elders outside of the sun and moon dude who was turning civilians into suicide bombers?

8 - ??? (Later killed by Silva)
9 - Pakunoda
10 - Bonolenov
11 - Uvogin
12 - Kortopi
>Yorkshin Heist Spiders
The same as before but with
4 - Hisoka
8 - Shizuku
>Current Spiders
0 - Chrollo
1 - Nobunaga
2 - Feitan
3 - Machi
4 - Kalluto (at least the third #4)
5 - Phinks

7 - Franklin
8 - Shizuku (at least the second #8)

10 - Bonolenov
11 - Illumi (the second #11)
Currently, 6, 9, and 12 are all vacant positions.

We likely don't see them because they're just not relevant.
There is the theory that some people we've seen have been from Meteor City though (notably Genthru had a popular theory that he was from Meteor City, as was Leorio and both lived in the aftereffects of an earlier Poor Man's Rose that hit Meteor City), but it's often the case that, while a good deal of Meteor City residents developed nen naturally, there's no real reason for us to actually see those abilities.

>How exactly did Hanzo's double kill Tuffdy here? Even a Conjurer or Manipulator should be able to rip apart a coil of rope
Tuffdy was panicking and we've seen nen users like Leol fail to exert their nen capabilities while under duress. Being suddenly choked out and taken off the ground simply rendered Tuffdy too incapable of enhancing himself and he died pretty quickly it seems.
>Can his double use an advanced technique like Shu
Kastro's double could use Ko so this is also a possibility.

>Then he retconned the reasons why an ultra-talented kid who's a prodigy of a famous family wouldn't have know about nen.
Nen was clearly thought of early on and Killua himself was given specific instruction not to go onto the floor where nen is common. Given we also learn that Illumi drilled into Killua's head to avoid people with weird powers, and how over protective he is of Kill. But also that Killua had a long history of rebellious behavior which is mentioned in his initial appearance. Togashi clearly shows that Illumi and Silva wanted to keep Killua away from rapidly acquiring power or being killed off before he was properly "ready"

but it clearly wasn't fleshed out entirely.

It probably was but the author had to keep it up hidden from the MCs

There's no basis for that being the case. Nothing about the vague gestures of nen hinted at in the Hunter Exam contradicts the information we got in the Heaven's Arena or even subsequent arcs. It's one of the things people praise Nen for which is it's internal consistency. The only thing that changes from our perspective is how much the main characters and we actually know about nen. Determining how much Togashi already had planned out in the beginning vs where he's at now is impossible without interviews. Not to take shots but this isn't Oda worldbuilding we're dealing with.

you're both right, I made that comment from non-canonical material that I mixed up as canonical.

Ah yes, Hisoka turning a guy's severed arms into rose petals or some shit. This is why I don't bother with adaptations. God forbid you were taking On or Omokage's bullshit puppet ability into account

The biggest thing I don't like about the beginning of the series is characters having super strength to move around tons of weight without having their aura nodes open. You could pretty much fix that entirely by saying aura is squeaking through unknowingly like how Gon learned zetsu

Isaac Netero’s hatsu: 100-Hand Bodhisattva

Beyond Netero’s hatsu: Six-Hand Mahakala

Plausible?

Some humans being generally stronger and more physically capable isn't a problem once in the story. Heck, Netero's hunter exam was designed to filter out the normies and only accept the freaks that can run quadruple marathons and hunt animals 5 times their weight.

i hate twists/mysteries that save critical information until the reveal. The Kurta massacre is impossible to predict the core of the twist because Togashi is hiding info/.
Silent majority is a proper mystery. You can figure out the answer with the information presented without it being obvious

I was kind of miffed when the solution to escaping Bourbons postdeath snake trap was for Gon to hold his breath for 5+ minutes and lift several times his bodyweight while hauling everyone out of the cave, this just after he was in recovery mode from being severely poisoned

How good is hxh post chimera ant?
>>
>>291755479
depends on what you like about the series. I thought election arc was cool and fun. I think post-election arc is shaping up to be the best in shonen.
Granted, this comes from someone who thought only Yorknew and The Ant arc were outstanding from a pure writing perspective.(i think every arc is at minimum good/enjoyable though). I'd say the current saga has better setup than both but I don't like the idea of crowning an arc before I see the ending...because I've seen Togashi fuck up before and there's always a real chance it happens again.
>>
>>291755479
I think the election arc is kind of mid at best, its a very strange arc but serves as a transitional arc of wrapping up and leaving behind HxH1 and then venturing into HxH2 which is what we've gotten for the last 80 chapters
>>
>>291756163
Election arc is one of my favorites, but that’s because it reminds me the most of the classic shonen atmosphere of the Hunter exam, without being purely a battle arc.
Only Hunter exam and election arc have that classic shonen aura to me, maybe heavens arena. That’s not a bad thing, but that’s why I like it so much.
If I look at it from a writing perspective , that arc includes kites revival and Nanika bullshit so without biased glasses it should probably be lower.

Kalluto will get his small, undeveloped body clowned by BCC (Big Clown Cock)
