Finished Hirogaru Sky. This one was a legit breath of fresh air.>I really loved Sora. She was a very nice pace of change and I never got tired of seeing her. Her story arc was steady from start to finish.>Mashiro...lives up to her name as an ordinary girl. Granted, she did have some moments where she showed some character and at worst, she was just a support system for Sora, but even she did that part well.>Ageha being the first adult cure not in a flashback was a first too, and she didn't feel like an adult at times, but it was strange seeing a pink cure as the supporting cure. Interesting indeed.The big one, and I remember this one when it was originally airing, as I was actually finishing up Gogo around 2023: Tsubasa. I think Tsubasa is not only one of the best orange/yellow cures, I think he's legit one of the best cures to date, and I think having that one male character actively in the main cast really adds a needed balance. Being a...non-human helps with his historic first in my opinion, but he legit had some great moments from learning the air currents to creating a barrier around the Skyland Kingdom, this is the one time I wanted a sequel to a season just to see how more he develops. His teamup with Kabaton and Minoton made me grin, that's one thing the girl cures can't do effectively, you need that boy or guy to bridge the gap between the male generals. He's legit in my top five if not THE #1 cure period.>Ellie. Surprisingly likeable and not annoying. As the episodes went on, she started talking more and more and I liked that she became more expressive instead of being a cutesy mascot.Her role as Cure Majesty didn't feel overshadowing at all, and her twist with Cure Noble surprised me. I was actually expecting her to be Noble herself, but it sort of kinda went that way?>All in all, these five really complimented each other and it was great all the way through.1/2

I'm a sucker for those characters.Skearhead, I've heard that he wasn't a good villain or was underwhelming but I think he did his role very well, he felt like an actual endgame villain and Ageha more or less saying he was different from the other cemented that he wasn't going to be the same as the other three, so his role was established pretty good. Even the mind palace gimmick gave him something.His further role with the Empress really solidified him as a solid villain being the one that killed her father when he tried to make peace with Skyland and it wasn't just a farce, there was an effort on his end to support his daughter and Skearhead backstabbing both of them was a key point in his character. The final form did sort of come out of nowhere, but I guess it was more or less a victory lap for the cast. Where that purified snake went, who knows. Sequel when? Hirogaru needs a sequel. Now.And seeing the Empress with the generals wanting to make a better tomorrow made me grin. I love seeing a good redemption arc. It's nice she has supporters in her corner.I actually thought that Shalala was going to be a traitor.Overall, I really, really liked this season. I heard all the bad things about it, but I felt it did what it was supposed to do. Nothing felt too puzzling or disjointed and like another anon said, it felt experimental, but in a good way. And on that note, they weren't being subtle with all the times someone said "Wonderful" in Hirogaru, so that was more or less the staff telling what was next.And Wonderful will be joining me in November. Delicious Party feels like it gets gradually better as it goes on and then suddenly spikes in quality for the finale arc. I'd say I was consistently enjoying that season on an episode by episode basis by about the 1/3rd point.Not sure if Star Detective is a season like that. On one hand, it's say its worst episodes are either past the intro arc and before episode 11 or just before the midseason Cure arc in the late teens, but on the other hand, if you don't vibe with most of the episodes in the first cour, I'd question if you'll end up liking the season's unique execution in general.

The Luluka focus episodes afterward are also really great even if they slow down the pace for a bit then things speed up again once Mafuru appears. Honestly, I've been loving the second half in general, and if the worst episode just so happens to be a Doremi pandering episode, that still makes it better than the first half. It might still be a great episode in and of itself if Anna's mommy issues are important.

Each one has its strong point.I would still rather recommend a Precure or Kamen Rider season just because it's concise (which is ironic to say for a 50 eps series, but it's still more compact than a single Pokemon generation which typically has like 150-ish episodes).
