What's your opinion on batch release?
I hate having to rush through the entire series just to avoid spoilers because everyone who saw the show just ends up talking about the bigger moments of the entire series.
Why don't they try to find a middle ground and release 2 or 3 episodes per week?

Who's they?
The studios? Then that would be stupid. The slow release raises awareness, increasing sales, and also allows them to cash in on the project before it is complete.
The streaming platforms? Then that would be stupid. They are in direct competition with other options. If they delay the release of episodes, then they lose.
The rippers? Then that would be stupid, for much the same reason.
The fansubbers? Some of them already do that. But they're essentially out of the mainstream loop already anyway. They release for people who are specifically waiting for them.

Who are you talking about?

It's annoying, but I just hide all the threads. Including this one. Bye.

The second season was shit and a slideshow anyway. You not missing much by just skipping it.

It destroys hype
>>
It was better that they released this as a batch, because the story was so nothing that most people would've forgotten it if it was week to week
>>
Well the downside is that no one wants to talk about things after 3 days, so that stifles discussion

Batch releases are objectively bad for community and discussion.
Like you said, spoilers, and only people talking about the 1 or 2 major things in the series, versus the 1 or 2 things in an episode each weak.

Take season 2 for example
Batch release:
>speedwatch to get in on the threads without spoilers
>Kind of disappointed with how mid it all ended up
>my experience watching the show was pretty much, 2 hours of thinking it was good, and then 2 hours of thinking it was mid
>threads dead after 1, maybe 2 weeks.
Weekly release:
>5 weeks where I'm really enjoying the show
>5 weeks of minimal spoiler risk, if I'm late by a day or 2 people are still talking about the one episode I was late on, so I didn't miss much

To be fair, the latter is followed by 5 weeks of things declining, but 5 weeks of enjoying it is a lot better than 2 hours, that are then immediately tempered by the rest being kind of a letdown.

And you can always jump ship if you think the series lost direction and entertainment value.

Not that I care about m*dern garbage but old (good) anime is already available in its entirety so I don't see the problem with the format itself
>>
>>291768882
I prefer it. I don't like waiting each week. And I don't care about spoiler, but I also have basic self control and just don't click on, or I scroll past, any discussions until I'm ready to read or talk about it.

it's just worse and done for no good reason
it's been working out for anime TV releases for 40+ years ffs

Just watch several last minutes of the final episode and then watch the series at your own pace, FOML-kun.

It's how netflix operates and they think it's right because they're not a tv station.

Japanese companies don't do this.

it's only annoying if you can't lay off 4chinz
>>

What about day to day? You get the nice touch of cliffhangers, the cadence is fast enough that the audience wont forget small plot details and it lets hype build up over time. Plus you dont feel any need to binge watch it for 4h. I wonder why netflix did not go with it. The only thing that may conflict with that release pace is time zones, and thats it. Maybe they drew a conclusion long time ago about most of the users watch a bunch of episodes in the same session, but it might be an artifact of people that didnt keep up with the show or a legion of neets that contributes massively to the user base.

I like it when it comes to a short story form like Cyberpunk
