>>291770638The visuals in Frieren are overrated. For a fantasy show not once did I think any world or character design look cool, everything looks bland. The animation is technically high quality, but it fails to achieve a strong visual identity. Kill la Kill has good visuals, character animation is sometimes super over-the-top to signify power while sometimes the animation is simplified to make them seem goofy or lame. In Frieren, sasuga moments are just randomly inserted and none of it sticks. Why is there some scene where Stark putting on his jacket is meticulously animated? It would work if it was an important scene or if it was played for comedy somehow. The animation is also wasted on the battle scenes because all the battles suck. The mechanics are uninteresting and vague. There is no tension in the fights, we know the characters can never die except from old age. By the way this show is not funny, and Frieren's "funny" face like in OP pic is never funny. If only this show was bold enough to do something ridiculous like having her make that face when telling Aura to kill herself instead of being deadpan.
