HxH probably has the ugliest character designs of any Shounen. Everyone looks so lame, it's hilarious. The 2011 anime makes everyone look like even goofier clowns, but in the manga they're ugly too, no matter how much aura Togashi tries to give them. Just an odd combination of design traits and clothes. Like most of the ants and hunters look like throwaway designs.

The more I think about HxH as a series, the more I despise it. How did Togashi lose all his sauce from YYH to HxH?
