>character so popular that if she loses or gets killed off the manga will immediately tankHow should the author handle this?
You will never be an editor.
chainsaw showed you, didn't it? nobody cared about part 2.
>>291775322she was barely in the manga brother, she's dying in the next 2 chaps.
>>291775758Yeah, that's the problem.Does anyone even care for any of the other characters?
>>291775322Well the only thing you can do is just make Fuuma the protagonist. Not like anyone is following the rest of the cast
>>291775322You have her lose but not die so she is in the background. Its already been done with other characters. The narrative would be shit if musashi lost instead considering how we saw him training and not her. He is clearly the protagonist
>>291776246>so she is in the backgroundShe's been in the background for the last two years and nobody cared about the whole thing.>The narrative would be shit if musashi lost instead considering how we saw him training and not her.Frankly, his training plot was complete and utter shit and boring as hell. Also, shouldn't getting the full backstory be a death flag? I for one wouldn't mind. He's arguably the blandest of all the competitors.
>>291776421Yeah but he's Musashi and japanese people never make him look bad.
>>291776438they used Kojiro instead of Musashi as the super cool samurai on Ragnarok. Musashi just watched and hyped up the other guy as the greastest.
>>291776558Musashi didn't look bad in that either though, but Kojiro was also written in that manga when it was still good.
>>291776558Record of Ragnarok Musashi is still a good fighter and a cool guy in general, Kojiro is just overall better for his ability to analyze multiple fight scenarios on his head.
>>291776246>The narrative would be shit if musashi lost instead considering how we saw him training and not her. He is clearly the protagonistThe training arc was a fucking mistake and the narrative it spun is shit anyway, it's as generic as it comes. The manga loudly advertised itself on not having a protagonist and it never needed one. People were happier then. The writer who had the foresight to say "giving one character special focus would make things feel pointless" went ahead and did exactly that and surprise! it feels pointless. Fuma will probably live because he still uses her to advertise, he advertised this fight on Twitter as "Our Empress returns!!" with a bunch of pinups of her and zero mention of Musashi. But that doesn't stop the feeling of apathy going forward into the tournament.
if musashi wins the mangaka will get accused of mc wank but if fuuma wins they will get accused of pandering to musclemommyfags so there's really no winning move
>>291777403No, taking the later is absolutely the better move for now.Killing him here and now is the fastest meaning the best way to totally break the 5 years of negativity that's been festering since Adams. If Musashi is killed so is any and all pessimism about predictable outcomes. "The plot armor MC" is gone so who's to say X definitely loses to Y and Z can't take the whole thing? and with that you're actually truly invested again. Everyone surely agrees that the sooner the tournament feels that way the better? If he dies here that's the last half of the manga, if he wins here his next round will end with just 2 fights remaining and by that point it's basically done and there's no time left to start giving a fuck anymore. This is the time for a subversion if there's ever going to be one. I guarantee the manga will be better with him gone.
>>291777341Yeah but you cant just do whatever you want when you already committed to making musashi the lead
>>291777341>Fuma will probably live because he still uses her to advertise, he advertised this fight on Twitter as "Our Empress returns!!" with a bunch of pinups of her and zero mention of Musashi. To be fair, giving her a spectacular graphic death could be a huge short-term push, especially with the /g/uro-crowd.Of course, that bonus would last at most until the next chapter, after that the popularity tanks.
>>291777403how about a double ko
>>291775322Remember when retards fell for "Everyone is the main character"?
>>291775818Jinsuke, Hanzo, and Choko.
>>291779029How about dropping a bomb on the whole arena and ending the farce that this manga is altogether?Seriously, an estimated 99% of its readers are just keeping up with it because of one character, or (if we're brutally honest) because of her design, since personality-wise she's not particularly interesting either. If that character gets killed off or relegated to a mere cameo in the background, the manga will lose all its appeal. Probably even to fans of the tournament genre, considering how little it has to offer in terms of novelty within that.
>>291779086That died with the second match, blind man was a dead man pretty much the whole battle.
>>291779086When people actually had hope for the series and enjoyed reading it? yeah good times.>>291779187Revisionism it died with the third. The thread waiting for that chapter to drop (people used to give enough a shit to do that) was like 20 posters vs 1 that Toda would win. It wasn't until Kojiro mysteriously survived people completely gave up.
>>291777461>Killing him here and now is the fastest meaning the best way to totally break the 5 years of negativity^THISfans win and it saves the story
>>291779187Realistically speaking toda would have had a fair chance of winning by virtue of being a sword user against someone who mostly fights barehanded, but based on the story beats there's no way he'd ever go to the second round.
>>291779187>this revisionismthere are archives of all the threads from when that fight was releasing where everyone was convinced that Kojiro was fucked. Pretending that everyone thought she was going to win despite easily accessible evidence saying otherwise is ridiculous
>>291775322i got bored and stopped reading ages ago, is her round 2 fight finally happening?
>>291779180a lot of versus fans are probably for that
>>291782870hoping*
>>291775322I don't want her to die, but I also definitely wanna see what their coinflip entails. "Their" meaning the author and his assistants talking about how to handle a very popular character. Imagine tanking your own work because you had the balls to go through with your coinflip of death, unlike the very obvious enshitification of the Adams fight and wankery. Oh well, let's see how it plays out.
