>>291840266I honestly can't trust them to do Doremi justice. Adapting the novels is one thing, but actually trying to clean up some of the inconsistencies is another. Dokkan was perfect as an ending and spoiler: Kotake rejecting Doremi's (Yeah, that's him at the very end) confession at the start of the novel series was a dick move for drama. It was clear that he and her finally got to the point where they could maybe get closer.I don't want a remake either that waters down some of the more touchier and heavier subjects either. Doremi is fine where it's at. Re-air it if need be.

I know that he likes to add unnecessary drama going by his past adaptations. There's a scene that only involved the people in the respective love triangle in the Hime-chan manga got escalated to TV broadcast shenanigans in the anime for some reason, and he gave the MC of YumePati a dead grandma backstory that I believe never went anywhere, as well as romance drama that wasn't in the manga. I would assume that the two Doremi directors didn't have much of a say in how he wrote the novels.

>>291840429Yeah, that's why if they do a timeskip to that period in the novels, they have Doremi and Kotake as a couple and they try to maybe focus on Pop and some of her friends as Ojamajo (Erika works nicely as an Onpu successor) and Hana being the new Queen means they can maybe bend the rules a little without the fatal flaw that is a human becoming long-lived as they become a witch or wizard.You can maybe keep stuff like Onpu's mom having a stroke, Aiko's injuries as a runner, and Hadzuki becoming a mother with Masaru being a slight deadbeat who wasn't prepared for fatherhood. And that wasn't a sudden move on her end to do that, she revealed her reason for becoming a witch in the first place early on, it's just that it never got brought up again until you learn who that was at the end and the interactions with the two overall throughout.

I liked the "edgy" side of Doremi. It made the series feel more like a Hans Christian Anderson cautionary tale on how fucked up the world can be, confronting, everyone is struggling with something, but finds happiness in spite of it. Everyone's problems felt so much more real than the typical lost pencil case plots of fluffy kodomo series. It just adds to how endearing the franchise really is.

It's like Otona and Mirai Days, sometimes you don't need to do a sequel years after, you do it right there and then. The magic (rimshot) you had fades away and doesn't come back.
