Just finished it. Plot was an unfocused mess with the thinnest pretense for characters to be together. Sasuke was the only good character with plot agency. I think S2 suffered because Imaishi's not directing. Imaishi made S1 what it was. His frenetic energy, the amazing visual direction, put the punk into cyberpunk. This new director simply wasn't a good fit. Talia dying would be thematically bad.David died because of his compounding mistakes as a result of the trauma over losing his mother. He had plenty of chances to turn his life around and people kept telling him he could, but he just couldn't shake it. That's the tragedy of S1, that it could have been prevented.Talia was just a terminally ill child that had no chance. If she dies, then it's just a story about a kid that died from something out of her control and her struggles were basically for nothing. Notice how Roman was able to make her seem beautiful regardless of her disease, which gives her the strength to scale back her cyberware in order to go find a cure. She wouldn't have done that without Roman giving her hope.

She is at her peak in one episode and a helpless drone most of the season. The aggressive push against camera-boy was interesting because she saw flesh as a weakness but it never went anywhere...
