The local military recruiters offices used it as an opportunity to do an assembly a few months after to shill for their youth programs that were pipelines for joining the day you finish high school, since there are regulations against doing actual direct recruiting in schools, one of my friends started doing the Navy one around that time and stuck with it thru to enlisting after high school.
