Is anime piracy dying? Pirated episodes aren't even being uploaded onto YouTube anymore much.
>>
>>291907485
Fucking steaming peasants.
>>
>>291907485
Gabe Newell once said that the reason people pirate is because it's easier. If you make the product easy enough to get people won't want to pirate in the first place.
>>
Anime piracy is still very much alive. No we are not gonna spoonfeed you where to find it.
>>
>>291907520
and yet nowadays it feels like hardly anyone is pirating compared to 2011 when so many people pirated.
>>
>>291907539
That was his point, yes.
>>
>>291907539
That's because you're a retard that never learned to torrent, only visited one streaming site, and shit himself when that one site went down because he doesn't know about the dozens of other sites with the same shit.
>>
>>291907485
Gen Alpha doesn't even know how to pirate. They're literally retarded people. I bet there isn't even a smart person who's Gen Alpha.
>>
>>291907485
My 24tb plex would like to say "you're a faggot, op".
>>
>>291907520
The side-effect is it feels like fan-translating is becoming less and less common. Which sucks if you're interested in things not getting official releases for anime and manga.
>>

>>291907539
Yes. That was my point. If you wanted to watch anime even a decade or so ago you had to get lucky and find it then download or somehow buy it. But now you just need a crunchy roll account and you basically get all the popular stuff right there. It's easier to NOT pirate.
>>
>>291907640
We're already bashing Grn Alpha? Damn, time moves fast.
>>
>>291907485
Nyaa is still going strong, that other site is picking up steam, whats the issue here?
>>
>Is anime piracy dying?

>why isnt more pirated shows being uploaded to literally the most corporate controlled platform in the world?

are zoomers this retarded?
>>
torrents of episodes for currently releasing anime are going up for download within 2 min of the episode airing, streamfags might be getting cucked but I'm doing just fine.
>>
>>291907485
Pirating has slowed down that regional licensors are uploading full eps on youtube, making the ad money through youtube adsense than traditional TV adverting. In my part of the world Muse Asia and Ani-One, for your part it's more likely Crunchyroll and Netflix. Hell I've even seen german dubbed oregairu on my youtube feed and regional broadcasters not doing their due diligence and region locking them so anyone can watch anywhere from the world as long at it has subs. Arabic too but unless your familiar with their alphabet you wouldn't even thought of stumbling upon it
>>
>>291907640
>gen alpha
It starts with zoomers though, sure the older ones are somewhat fine but the younger ones are all as retarded as gen alpha.

Yes, piracy is dying. So companies can stop paying attention to it. It's basically gone now. Everyone pays the fair market price to watch their anime and read their manga.
>>
>>291907640
>>291908284
Considering young gen z and gen a are like 13-9 years old, yeah I don't doubt it. I was retarded as a middle and high schooler too.

>>291908055
As a mid gen z pretty much everyone I know uses pirate streaming sites to watch anime. They all get them from tiktok/instagram. When one goes down, another pops up and they all share what it is and flock to it. Hianime I think it was called made like $2 million from ads before it shut down. Anime piracy is very much still alive, it's just evolved a little bit.
>>
>>291907485
Am I the only one who still pirates media? I find piracy more satisfying than streaming services because with piracy, you can watch basically anything.
>>

for any newbies: download utorrent and then visit nyaa.si. first search for your anime, click on the magnet because you should always click on the magnet, do the usual "save to" nonsense, wait and watch your anime.
remember to delete the torrent and file after watching because nothing is worth archiving anymore.
>>
>>291908064
what's the other site?
>>
>>291908391
I've literally never paid for a streaming service in my life
>>
>>291908398
>remember to delete the torrent and file after
seeding at least 150%
>>
>>291908056
Please don't let us turn into boomers complaining about them kids
>>
>>291908398
This user is gay and retarded. Never delete your torrent because you should seed to at least a 1.0 ratio. Also step 3 get your internet taken away and a letter to your door because you live in a first world country
>>
>>291907485
a lot of the younger gen are afraid to torrent for whatever reason and make a million excuses on why they're not doing it. it's very weird.
>>
File: phoneposters.jpg (27 KB, 190x299)
27 KB JPG
zα don't have computers, so all they can do is stream.
>>
>>291908398
use qbittorrent not utorrent

>>291908444
I try seed everything I download since it sucks to have to jump through hoops for older anime because no one seeds them and I have gigabit internet.
>>
>>291907485
gen z is technologically incompetent
>>
>>291907520
>Gabe Newell once said that the reason people pirate is because it's easier
Well yeah, stealing things means you don't have to pay for it so of course it's easier. If people could easily steal cars or houses as easy as that pirate an anime they'd do it.
>>
>>291907520
>the prophet Gaben hath spoken!
Gabe's cult of personality is the weirdest religion on earth. people pirate because they'd have to eat dirt if they spend their 300usd/month salary on entertainment; so unless what you mean by "easier" is broad enough to encompass that, you're a retarded nigger.
>>
>>291908536
I don't pirate games because Steam is a good service. I would rather pay $15 for a game instead of getting it for free on Epic because Steam is a good service. I pay for my games because Steam molded me into a sperg who loves watching playtime go up, editing my profile, achievements, reviews, ez multiplayer, etc. etc.

I WOULD pay for my anime and other TV if they still made reasonably priced dvds, including for older series. Last time I checked it's $60 for a 12 episode anime dvd. Obviously I'm not buying that shit. And most new western stuff they don't even sell dvds for anymore. I pay for books because I like having the book on my shelf at a reasonable price. Steam is an exception because the service is that good, and it's not like anyone sells physical pc games for anything anyways. It's pretty clear there's not going to be a "Steam"/one-stop-shop for anime and tv streaming, so dvds are the closest thing, but they don't make them anymore.
>>
>>291908473
The probably got that warning from their service provider. If you're a kid that's probably enough to freak you out.
>>
>>291907485
youtube is cleaning piracy up with the use of AI moderation and demonetization for anything which slips through the net. a lot of the reacters (reactors?) are complaining that they can't show the episode in like 1/4 of the video, flipped and colour graded without getting a copyright strike and whatnot
>>
They guys running arthura quitting was a big hit but otherwise it's pretty alive. Just not streaming lol

I dont care
Let the streamfags take all the legal heat while us torrentchads can worry more about rising costs for hard drives
>>
>>291907485
Crunchyroll is too expensive. I don't like paying for stuff. I prefer piracy because it's free. Honestly, there's literally no need to pay for any streaming service when you can just have every anime in the world for free.
>>
>>291909151
For me I dont want to give my money to that scumbag fat fuck jeet in charge of the company
Fuck that guy
>>
>>291909079
there's a russian streaming site right now which has QHD streams of shows and movies. it's incredible, you click anywhere on the bar and it instantly loads and when i ripped the stream the files are around 5.8gb per 2 hour movie. the sub selection is integrated with opensubtitles and there's no watermarks or anything.
>>
>>291909096
Kids grow up primarily on phones now. It's simply the easiest way to access anime for someone who has no clue and quality doesn't even matter that much with the tiny ass screens
>>
>>291908996
why would anyone download these days, when episodes are stream at the same time. Quality wise gen A are most likely watching from their phones anyways

>why would anyone download these days
Because I want to keep the shit I like and on the ready?
Also there will be times when the internet is gone or in recent times they will try to age gate or do some other bullshit to make stuff like anime harder to access because it offends feminists or tradcucks

Well not my kids
They will grow up learning from Dad's hard drives and PC.
Nothing would make me happier than for them to invite their friends over and ask:
>"Hey Dad, can we borrow one of your hard drives? Me and my friends want to watch anime!"
And then I will happily set it up, give them some cold cokes, and order a lot of pizza and chinese takeout
>>
>>291909212
licensing. museasia and anione don't work for me, and i think i only see half of what crunchyroll has compared to americans

>>
>>291909315
As much as people wish for that to happen, fact of the matter is your kids will grow up watching the newer and more bombatrous anime that will only ever outshine your old archived anime. And if it were a classic a remake will happen eventually. I too hoard vidya in hopes of family playing them but I've accepted my that digital media you own will die with you unless you put in the effort to puah your kids into it. Adversely in may backfire into resentment of you trying to push what you like onto your kids doing the opposite.

>>291909458
Yeah I'm not expecting my kids to be as much into anime, guns, planes, games, etc like I was but the key is exposure
You have to be subtle with the exposure to not make it too obvious.

>>291909472
Bless you anon, I hope I do have what it takes
>>
>>291909096
>How has streaming become normalized on /a
it's easier and people are naturally lazy
>>
>>291907485
Late boomers and gen-xers are the ones maintaining them but time caught up to them. Lazy snd stupid millennial bums only knows how to leech.
Worse part is millenials are the one who are giving it unwarranted attention by brahging on reddit/facebook/tumblr for years and pretending they did shit to the scene.
>>
>>291909096
Where do the streaming sites get their anime? do they just download and serve the same torrents I'm downloading?
>>
>>291909656
Yes, after slapping a watermark on the video.
>>
>>291909672
some of the newer ones are clean with soft subs. that was the turning point for me where i was staunchly anti-streaming to thinking, okay this might be the future
>>
>>291909672
so
>wait longer for a worse version of the same thing you can download all because you're tech illiterate and/or can't afford a hard drive
>>
>>291909096
simple, I watch all my anime on phone and streaming is easier. I’ll torrent other things but I see no reason to boot up my pc and waste time turning on my vpn for anime when I can just use a site. there are lots of Gen Alpha that literally do not know how to use a pc let alone torrent though
>>
>>291909096
60%+ of /a/ are third worlders who only have access to some chinese smartphone

I recently noticed that some people actually uploaded western live action to nyaa. What the fuck up is that? Feels like that's bringing in unnecessary attention.

>>
>>291908055
A decade ago was 2016, not fucking 2009 lmfao
>>
Yu-gi-oh! season 0 disappeared from YouTube while I was midway through it....
>>
Nyaa messed up their RSS feed, which is pretty annoying. You used to be able to make a feed based on a search result, but now it seems there's only one global RSS feed that only shows 75 entries.
If I wanted to pick up a show mid-season I'd just search the group, quality and name, put it in a dedicated feed, throw it at rtorrent and all episodes would get downloaded with just a few clicks. Now, because the feed is global and limited, any new anime I add to my filter will only get the latest unreleased episode because the feed is so small.
Maybe it's time to get back to being a PowetUser on AB.
>>
>>291907485
It's not dying so much as it's changed form; the new "piracy" is sharing accounts which is why you hear so much about Netflix cracking down on people abusing family accounts. Which worked for people in the past decade, but for some reason whatever resulted from the Crunchyroll-Funimation merger is losing licenses to random shit, so if people want to watch unc shit like Excel Saga they're stuck either pirating or buying overpriced used box sets (all of which are out of print). I guess it's fine since most zoomers never feel like giving anything from before 2013 a chance anyway.
>>
I cant torrent my anime because my ISP dings me for it

I would not dare to teach kids how to pirate shit for the simple reason that kids are fucking blabbermouths and cops do this "safety" bullshit in schools nowadays where they teach kids to report their parents, get them arrested and then get sent off to orphanages.
>>

>>
>>291910364
I was contesting the part about nyaa still going strong
>>
>>291908398
I never use the magnet. I download the torrent. The dl starts faster that way and I can immediately pick which files I want and which I don't.
>>
>>291910364
TT isn't a tracker, it's an indexer
>>
>>291910337
i'm not trying to be a contrarian here but my view on this is that any new accounts made cannot be safely and efficiently vouched for to act in good faith which is why they'll never open registration again
and from my experience with private trackers, it's very VERY hard to unfuck stuff like renpy trojans and people trying to impersonate trusted uploaders which creates a lot of extra work and damage
and lastly i see a lot of groups and uploaders trying to siphon traffic away or upload things for profit which i'm really against and i feel that nyaa admins feel the same way. you may think it's some sort of elitism or old boys club but for me, i see it as protectionism.
