I can't take any of our protagonists but Aoi seriously. Just finished watching Aikatsu Friends season 2!

Pretty good, despite how short it was.
The Sorbet Kingdom trip arc almost felt like a movie: a pretty nice and self-contained story that served as a break from the normal idol activities. I wonder where the kingdom is located?
Character-wise, it's not as strong as the first season: Aine and Mio's relationship is pretty much fully developed and we get to see them take on new challenges and be producers for a big event, but I wish they got some intimate moments like in S1. Hibiki and Alicia got some of that instead, but I don't care about them as much. Maybe because Alicia's problems are too disconnected from the rest of the show, and Hibiki feels like she is already a fully developed senpai idol and she doesn't really have an endearing quirk. It's still pretty goofy and fun to see them save a kingdom and fulfill an ancient prophecy through idol activities, but Aikatsu in general seems to have weaker season 2s for some reason.

NTA, but that's pretty much always the case with Aikatsu as complaints about the game kept piling on as time went on. Aikatsu lost a sizeable portion of their audience with the switch to Akari + Pripara's launch, then half of the remaining audience left with the launch of Stars, and it was a long slow bleedout afterwards until Planet + the pandemic put it on ice. One thing I'm still curious about is why exactly they hated Friends, with Stars and Planet (as well as Demi's complete lack of game) I've seen the explanations as to why they were unhappy with them but I've never seen the reason(s) for Friends.

Encore looks like it can't decide what it wants to be, the adverts and PR are all aimed at little friends while the player base is made up entirely of old female fans and scalpers that are scaring off the children. It's making money but I fear it's 100% going to send the wrong message for any future Aikatsu projects (and that's assuming the current demand lasts for it).
