On the occasion of its ending, I will storytime Ura Baito, one job per day. Most jobs are around 3-4 chapters, and self contained, so feel free to join at any time.

Today's job: Woodland Search Party Member

Nothing, it's a Kuroiwa job, you're fucked.
>>
>>291964719
If you stretch things I guess you need to do go there with a bro you love very much? Then when you hesitate to rope each other you buy time until the thing is born, hopefully soon.
>>
>>291963779
How many is this motherfucker going to tease her about the info!?
>>
Okay. I understand nothing.
First why green and not red? Forest theme?
Moreover, Yume and Hama didn't killed themselves, because they "loved" more each other than Jun.
So hanged people turn to forest-baby-pine-cone right?
>>
>>291963885
Green is a safe color so I'm sure this is going to be a safe job.

Green represents the forest entity messing with them. I'm not sure what red meant, people in threads have mentioned alternate timelines, so maybe stories with red panels are the ones were Yume and Han die.

I think the hanged people are needed for more of those freaky babies to be born, not that they become them.
>>
>>291963885
remember to pay attentio to red and also the green you wil understand later

Gray Compendium

>Gray: Sea of Trees Bagworm
Entities that live within forests that impregnate humans and births copies of the victims.
>First appearance:
Chapter 141
>Method of Escape:
Unknown.
It's possible to resist the hanging but survival is not guaranteed. >291964151 >291964163
>Details:
Bagworms can be seen hanging from trees via cords attached to the entity or crawling along the ground. >291963974 >291964002
Viewing the entity or bagworm places a compulsion on its victims, luring them into committing suicide via hanging on a tendril produced by the entity. >291964138
After death, grass and other plants grow from the victims orifices. >291964124 >291963885
Through an unknown process, a victim is impregnated with an entity. >291964250
Their belly will swell massively and fleshy cords will emerge from their belly. >291964097
Upon birth, the entity will resemble its human host and appear to even retain its memory. >291964197
Upon birth, any still living victims will snap out of any suicidal compulsion. >291964186
>Additional Remarks:
After an unspecified amount of time, the corpses appear to regress into a baby form resembling the bagworms. >291964274
The connection between the bagworms and birthed entities are unknown.

Additional research is required.

Fallen London is the game you play if you really, REALLY like theorycrafting and optimizing trade routes of goods with a wiki open 24/7 (or if you just like the writing, there are people who try to collect every passage in the game).

I think I spent about five months on it a few years ago, just reading through the wiki and thinking about what the fastest way to progress was and how to make the most money along the way and whether X niche piece of content could be made lucrative by doing Y.

I've been playing it for the first time this month too, got 2 standard victories and 2 normal victories but........

>I've been replaying this month. it has its problems (like getting pretty grinding once you figure out the early game
Yes, it gets grindy quickly and for no good reason since the loop is mostly tedious.

The game just needs more permanent non self-exhausting cards imo. (Lesson Learnt,Aspects from Mansus, etc) - Grinding is a bitch and every action taking 60~120 seconds is a no go

>but god damn the writing more than makes up for it
Unfortunately it's not as good no...

>>291974903
>>291974889
>>291977921

Imo Sunless Sea is just better writing wise and gameplay wise even if the grind is mostly the same, Cultist Sim is just to rigid and not "gamey" enough and the writing doesn't make up for it

Companions stories and alternate endings are 100% better than Cultist.
>>
>>291989471
My problem with cultist simulator is that you'll only ever do actually exciting cult things when you're still learning and playing the game "wrong". Once you know how to get a standard victory there is no reason to summon anything or take actions that could get you a rival because those have large downsides and little or no upside.
It makes sense because once you have occult understanding (as a player) then the path to ascension is just grinding hard work. But as gameplay it means there's not much to interact with.

The Sea of Trees would probably retaliate and immediately kill them. It's using people as means to birth its offspring so it would no doubt be extremely hostile if something threatened its spawn.

But it also looks like contact with "Jun" possibly allows it to infect you in a similar manner to what happened to the original so the SoT might not even need to react.

However, nice chapter and probably one of the best drawings.
Okay, if I unite this story with the Archelogical one with the Angel from the Simpson, I should suggest that the peel is the "page" moved or ripped by the universe-writers (I don't recall their name, wait are they named?). However, I doubt the role of the Starman, they are sort of guardians? The pinnacle of human evolution? they seem nice, the last one waved to Yume and Hama, or not?

Yeah, outside the cosmos is us: the author writing and drawing the manga, and us reading it. That's why the panel at the bottom of the page is peeling. You can also interpret it as the designers allowing this person to take a sneak peek behind the curtain.

I read ahead of the dailies, and I believe the ending of the Kuroiwa jobs points to this, albeit in a tongue-in-cheek way.
The breakdown of reality, timelines, and the third and fourth walls is one of the many themes of this manga. It reminds me of some of the works of Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Matt Kindt, and Peter Milligan.

So the smart alec didn't get turned into a starman. Meaning if you successfully observe one long enough then your head will be filled with knowledge beyond comprehension, but if you fail to observe one at all then you also get turned into one.

Tokiko is sus but I don't really get what the guy's referring to here
>>
>>292017426
Alright, I got it, she pulled a "whatever you do, don't think about the pink elephant" on him. If you don't observe the starman, you won't be taken (actually, otherwise most of humanity would become starmen). It's when you feel pressured to find one that you get noticed by them and turned into one.
Thought I'm still not sure why this benefits Tokiko/Q/Yayoi
>>
>>292022234
The whole "Starmen kidnap you if you fail to catch them" speech is bogus. They just pick whoever has an interest in them. Tokiko was from the beginning setting up the researcher as a sacrifice to get more messages.

Gray Compendium

>Gray: The Starman
A massive entity in space made from stars.
>First appearance:
Chapter 147
>Method of Escape:
Don't observe the Starman. >292010922
>Details:
Prolonged observation of the Starman can lead to madness. >292010942
For those who can retain their wits, prolonged observation will lead to a Starman spiriting away the observer, where they will subsequently become a Starman as well. >292011086
The goal of the Starman is to reach past the limits of the observable universe. >292011245
>292011265
>Additional Remarks:
Something or someone is past those limits and the Starman warns us about it. >292011331

Additional research is required.

How would do Akagi do at being an urabaitor?
>>
>>292026983
Akagi is really fucking sharp and only trusts his instinct. He loves the idea of a meaningless death so he'd like gray jobs.
>>
>>292027122
What's the most pointlessly flashy way to do a gray job? Like taunting the gray and then bluffing your way past it. Akagi would go for style points.
>>
>>292024380
I just saw this, it was actually really disappointing, none of the jobs had any clever twists or good horror and all the guy does is run away, there’s no smart moment where he outwits them or anything. Insane how much better Ura Baito is compared to this.
