Interesting that mangaka bothers to make the MC look up how the erasure works instead of just calling it a timeline divergence. Judging by the behavior of Chisato's mother it seems more like subconscious forced brainwashing than magic. She was actively erasing her daughter from the photo and looked psychotic doing it instead of wondering who that might be, as if still knew her deep down and just chooses to ignore it to avoid pain.

Old women usually suck at handicraft and can't plug in their TV, but those are skills that you need less often and there is usually a young person around that will do it for them. Meanwhile, nobody is willing to wash someone else's clothes or cook for them every day. I have only seen this with old people though. As retarded as young people can be, they at least mastered the most basic skills to be able to survive on their own whereas old ones married the second they left their home so they never bothered to learn what their spouse can do.
