Best non-Ichigo battles in the anime? Let's compile a list.- Mayuri (+ Nemu) vs Pernida is the first to mind, because it's so fresh in the mind.>Espada arc in Hueco Mondo- Mayuri vs Szayelapporo? Tbh I only remember the end, I can't remember the bulk of the battle.- Zaraki vs Nnoitra?>Espada arc in Fake Karakura Town, all these three were bangers as I remember them- Soi Fon vs Barragan- Shunsui vs Starrk- Hitsugaya vs Harribel>Several from the Soul Society / Rukia rescue arc also stand out.- Ishida vs Mayuri- Chad vs Shunsui. This obviously was never a close battle, Shunsui was toying with Chad all along, trying to get a measure of him and learning of the group's motivations. But it was still memorable.- Renji vs Byakuya- Zaraki vs Tousen, then the tease of Zaraki vs Komamura. It established Tousen as skilled and showed his terrifying Bankai power...but then established Zaraki as an absolute demon who managed to counter and defeat it. Then Komamura takes Tousen's place for round 2. Unfortunately he abandoned the fight because some other shit happened, but holy fuck that battle would have been sweet if it played out. And ultimately...this just set up Tousen's betrayal to hurt even more, as Komamura saved his life here. Never truly appreciated how much of a masterpiece this large 'fight' turned out to be until now.- Yamamoto vs Shunsui + Ukitake, another teaser that never finished but really cool while it lasted- Yoruichi vs Soi Fon, holy shit how could I forget?What else? I'm sure I'm missing a lot. Filler arcs count too btw. If a battle is good, it's good.
