At least with SnK it just completely shit the bed at the very end but was good for 95% of the story, CSM just got more and more directionless until it became obvious Fujimoto was just putting in shit he happened to think was cool that week but didn't make any sense in the story. Then it does end and you realize he was doing that the whole time and even though the universe/concept is so good we're not getting explanations for anything, it was all just hype moments and aura with no actual thought on how any of the cool shit would affect the plot or world building.

Looking back, most of his works are largely self-refelcetive and in csm part 2 you could see that he felt like he had to reflect on problems that came from the outside (his fame, most prominently). The thing is - you cannot self-reflect on problems that involve or are partly caused by other people; because you cannot reach a conclusion when you exclude them from an equasion they are part of. The things Denji struggled witth like sex and fame - He could never get a hold of them by himself - because they were never about him alone.

I rewatched s1 and it was surprisingly mehI never liked the repeat sections, I wanted more plot per episode. Overall you're left with not a whole lot happened in the season.Unique ed's are a mixed bag, a third are good and fitting, a third dont make sense because of how little plot happened, a third are middling.Fight scenes were mid and bat/leech fight I wished ended faster, sometimes 3dcg was distracting. The good animation overall is sweet but doesn't have similar impact as it had when it aired. I saw reze arc in theaters and rewatched that now too. It was alright, I don't understand why a movie where peoples heads are cut off has an extended nipple censorship scene. Who is it for?Fight scene goes on for way too long and the emotional conclusion is confusing with mc trying to save a person who caused couple billion dollars worth of property damage and killed hundreds. So you're left with well at least it was well animated, except the animation serves scenes without an emotional or narrative purpose.
