Hey again, thanks for the engagement. So the rape in the story is framed in such a way as to highlight the disgust and helplessness the two character feel during the act. It's not to be edgy or for simple shock value. It was done in a way to balance the incredible win they had in a fight a bit before it happens, and as a way to highlight the very real dangers of the setting.

Essentially, they're (Aurora and Ellasan) are on a... I guess in videogame terms it would be called a side quest. They're trying to recover a stolen religious artifact for the group of racist, bigoted elves who have the rest of Aurora's party held captive. To track it down they're delving a dungeon belonging to a lunatic mage. They fought their way past traps, illusions, and even a kraken. The Kraken fight was insane, but they handled it by fighting smart and being creative. To advance further they had to cut the Kraken open and find a key hidden in its innards. Since this is no longer a videogame they couldn't just.. click on its corpse to loot it, so afterwards they were covered in viscera.

Tired, gross, and overconfident from their wins, they kept going. The dungeon started to change. It was like they were in a castle instead of a cavern. They had reason to believe that the Lunatic Mage was already dead and they were simply dealing with the remainders of his defenses. The two found a bathroom and decided to wash up and get some rest for the final push through the dungeon... Turns out the Lunatic Mage made even that a trap. He knew that anyone who made it that far would wish to clean themselves, so the entire bathroom was a mimic. When the two laid down to rest the bathroom changed, dropping it's disguise. It was the mimic who raped them, trying to implant it's eggs into their bodies.

I wanted to give Aurora a reality check. She's been riding the high of successes since she had been Isekai'd. The rape was a slap in the face. A way of reminding her that the things she's doing are dangerous. That she doesn't have to be the hero. That finding a safe city and setting up a mundane life is always an option. It was also to check her ego... Her magi-tech prosthetic is so much better than her Old World one that she sometimes forgets that she has a life-altering disability. It's even her fancy prosthetic that gets her caught by the Mimic's tentacles. I had previously set up that the metal of her foot doesn't do well on slick surfaces. As she's dodging and fighting her leg slips and she goes down, dropping her weapon.

I also used the scene to trigger a set up for later in the story. One of the Rules of Magic in the setting is that a magic-user requires a Spell-Focus. For Aurora that's her rod, for Ellasan it's her bardic instrument. But Aurora and Ellasan figured out that a Bard could use their spells by humming the songs they had to previously play, and during the rape Aurora manages to unleash a wild inferno of magical flames without her rod. Magic is... Changing. And it's a big fucking deal.

Afterwards, Aurora realizes that though she has suffered loss and pain, she had never been targeted by purposeful malice in the way that she had been. She realizes that perhaps she's in over her head. That she doesn't know what to do. That she should have found a safe place and hunkered down. Learned more about Altgard and not rushed off like an idiot trying to be a hero.

I once watched a video essay about Justice League (DCAU) where they author talked about the idealized 'mythological' writing of the show. The heroes were innocently good, larger than life and designed to show us the best aspects of humanity and ourselves, rather than the cynical view of shows like The Boys. Aurora was operating on that Innocent Good 'Mythological' brainwave, but that inflexibility is not a realistic way to handle every situation. It sort of caused a mental Blue Screen for her, and it's only thanks to Ellasan that she managed to pull herself together enough to focus on the task at hand. They need to find that religious artifact, save Aurora's friends, and finish their actual quest. Aurora even hopes the Lunatic Mage is still alive (he very much is) so she can kill him herself.

I've said it before, but there is no character growth without suffering. Static characters are boring. Aurora is growing into herself. Starting as a wide-eyed idealist, she's been sheltered and for the most part protected her entire life. She is learning who she is and what she's willing to do to further her goals.

I think Ellasan is the standout character in the post-rape scene desu, she really comes into her own as the older, more experienced woman and it highlights the fact that even though she can be a manipulative cynic she is a good person at heart and she very much cares for those around her. Aurora especially.

Static characters are not boring, they are useful tools for which to have other characters bounce against and be changed by.

A lot of Villains become Static characters once they've had their bad day. They usually start the story already evil and staying evil until their demise at the hands of the protagonist.

Characters like Superman and Goku are static because they changed the people they interact with.

Other than that, wow... you really took a deep dive on what you wanted for this. That's cool at least.

That's a fair point, though I would argue that Goku does have a very subtle character arc. Look at the start of Dragon Ball Goku v the end of Z Goku. Very different in ways beyond him simply growing up. Superman... Well that depends on the writer and what they're going for. I did mention the DCAU's portrayal as 'Mythological' good guys was the inspiration for how Aurora had been acting. A sweet, naive type of goodness. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but in a world of moral grays I just didn't see Aurora as the type of person who could change the way the world worked, and so her options are to change herself. It's not a conscious decision she's making. Right now she's lost in pain and anger and embarrassment and a thousand other complex emotions and she needs to navigate them at her own pace.

When she comes out the other end of this depressive spiral a better, more prepared person who can make the right decisions with full-knowledge of what dark depths a person can sink... Well that's what will make her a hero.

Also, I wanted to portray her and Ellasan as victims for this scene, so I completely avoided hentai/porn logic. She didn't cum, get fucked stupid, ahegao, etc. She cried herself hoarse and screamed until her voice broke until some unknown restraint within her snapped and released her magic to destroy the monster set on turning them into living incubators for it's eggs. I was actually a little disgusted with myself for writing the scene as I did and had to step away from the story for a couple days to center myself, and I'm normally not squeamish lol

Athan is short for Athanasius, and he's the 'cheeky demon' so he's very much a brat. He's actually the immortal demon, hence all the damage he's sustained, very slow to heal. He basically likes to cause trouble and mess with people, so flipping a demon hunter upside down to fuck them is something he'd do. Might also make them do autofellatio but Izumi's a bit small for that (And no idea if his owner is down for it anyways)
