Like in the Helltaker image you posted, the middle girl's body spans the whole length of the image but that wouldn't really work for shortstack proportions. One solution might be to have each girl occupy one third of the image each, so one girl on the bottom, one in the middle, one at the top. They wouldn't have to be confined there, limbs or even heads could mix in to the other thirds, but the torso would be anchored there. As for the exact poses and compositions, I don't know if I could say. By the way, do you have the exact aspect ratio you're working with for reference?
