I think it’s just nostalgia since most of them were probably teenagers when Shad was at his peak and are trying to replicate his energy as a form of appreciation? He was the most infamous porn artist at the time

Shad was a big name on Newgrounds and he was friends with a lot of the people on there, that's the only reason he was popular. There are PLENTY of artists drawing similar content who fly under the radar because they didn't appear on Sleepycast or get into fights with Keemstar because they thought it'd be funny to draw suggestive art of his child.Andava and Pumpkinsinclair, for example, draw PLENTY of loli, but neither of them can say they personally knew the guy who made Smiling Friends, so no one really cares.

I first discovered Shad back in middle school, so I feel pretty nostalgic towards him. His stuff satisfied both my young desire for edgy humour and my core fetishes that were just starting to take form. Looking back most of his art wasn't even all that hot (although the futaStarfirexRaven comic still has a place in my dick's heart) but I still feel rather fond of it.You know who I really miss? Jlullaby. Since his stuff got posted on Shad's site young me didn't know they were different people and I just thought Shad just completely locked in from time to time. I rarely bust to the same work multiple times, but there's quite a few Jlullaby works that I keep coming back to.
I don't particularly care for him. His art isn't bad, some of it is actually pretty good, his handwriting is atrocious though. If I were to describe him, he is the incarnate of the offensive page on ED way back in the day. That being said, I don't think he, himself, ruined NSFW art. Maybe people are just breaking out and drawing whatever they feel like now without caring about morals or other peoples' standards.
