Been a little while since I gave any update for anyone interested in my work. I've been mostly going through trying to wrap my head around programming and the Godot UI, which seems to be going pretty well. Not too much on the art front but I did start making a model sheet for Pip. I'm still internally debating on if I want to make her even shorter or if she, and the rest of my gobs, look fine as they are. As far as programming I got myself a plugin for Godot specifically designed to help create visual novels so that's been extremely helpful. I've also managed to create a functional main menu system so it seems like things are going pretty well. My next step is to figure out the systems to store player data like name and gender, how to save and load the game, then to start getting the hang of using the addons and build the prologue scene. After that I'll be working on Act 1 which will hopefully include the "affection" stat and basic combat once I learn how to create them, along with the beginning of the story and your introduction to Pip and maybe another Gob.

I'm far from being able to just type it all out from memory, but I don't think that's uncommon for someone of my skill level.I got it working, at the very least, and it stores the name and gender data directly to the Dialogic addon. My next task is to lay the bedrock for an Affection stat, and then see if I can handle making a simple turn based combat system. Once I have those under my belt I imagine it'll be a lot smoother sailing from there.

Having a place where you can post your code and get answers to why something isn't working quickly is insanely valuable when you are starting out.AI can definitely help with that somewhat, but from my own experience the models are not trained on code for the lesser known engines and don't know about the best practices which people have developed for them. So very often the AI will move you in a direction which is technically correct and works, but is way more complicated than just using some functionality of the engine.
