She's more of a neutral to good leaning character I would say - not an "out of the good of her heart" type of character, and a little rough around the edges, but has some morals - she's from a pretty classic pulp fantasy world.

I'm honestly still fleshing her story out, but the condensed version is that she's one of a pair of twin daughters, born to a feared sorcerer outside of a port town in the north - Ylva was the more physically gifted of the two, though both learned how to consort with demons to wield rudimentary sorcery. Ylva and her sister grew up alienated and feared by the nearby villagers, though this doesn't stop Ylva from getting into some early misadventures, eager to change the minds of the peasantry (to little effect). Everything eventually comes to a head when she learns that on the evening of her 20th birthday, her father planned to offer up her and her sister in some dark ritual to gain everlasting life. Fate intervenes, and she escapes her home with the help of a friend - having to leave her sister behind. As she's sailing southwards, her ship comes aground before it can leave the waters of her homeland, and she realizes that she can't just run. She needs to find a way to gain the power to challenge her father, and free her sister from his clutches - which kicks off her questing the dangerous frozen wilds, looking for the answer to her dilemma.
