Can we have a covert narcissism thread?
Please use this thread to share your esoteric knowledge and personal experiences with these demons. A covert narcissist ruined my life earlier this year, and I wonder if things will ever improve.

I don't know that term. I get both words individually. I don't know about them together.

Here's a great list of covert narcissist traits:
psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-narcissist-in-your-life/202007/52-ways-to-identify-a-covert-narcissist
They're all quite similar, once you've met one you've basically met them all.

Not a real diagnostic, doesn't appear in the DSM-V and isn't a clinically used term, no one is ever formally diagnosed as 'covert narcissist'. It's a made-up diagnostic that's only ever circulated by pop-psychology circles, which basically means underqualified 'therapists', middle-aged moms, and quora/Reddit.

The writer of that article isn't a psychologist or psychiatrist.

>Julie Hall is a journalist, educational writer, editor, and poet whose work has appeared in Reuters, HuffPost, The Nation, The Seattle Times, The Chicago Sun-Times, and Psych Central and whose writing and editing clients include McGraw-Hill, Scholastic, Nielsen, Columbia University, Boston University, and University of Illinois.
>Journalist
>'Educational' writer
>Editor
>Poet

Should you really trust that as a dependable source of psychological insight?

I'm currently experiencing the discard phase from my long distance "girlfriend" after calling her out for a litany of shitty behaviors. Fortunately I have enough self respect to just be ready to walk away. Been through this bullshit enough times and the pros don't outweigh the cons anymore. Long distance is the absolute worst and I should have known better from the start.

Good luck anon, you've got this. The good thing about long distance is that it's easier to cut off all contact than if this was somebody living down the street from you. Don't let her hoover you back in.

She also lists
>Hates to lose
as a symptom. So being competitive makes you a narcissist to this dumb bitch. This is why you should never listen to women.

IGNORE EVERYONE WHO COMMENTED IN THIS THREAD.

TOSS IT OUT THE WINDOW. ITS ALL JUNK.

GO LOOK UP SAM VAKNINS CHANNEL AND BASK IN THE TREASURE TROVE OF REAL INFORMATION AND GENUINE FACTS.

TRUST ME. ITS BEEN A GODSEND FOR ME PERSONALLY. SAVE YOURSELVES. LEARN.

One thing I notice about them:
You can outright tell them the correct tactics to use to convince you of things, but they are outright incapable of learning.
All they do is call names, make shit up, and get mad. Even if you've told them how to actually manipulate you, they can't figure it out. I suspect that narcissists just can't learn from advice or example.

Also, if you tell them stuff that counters their bullshit, their brain literally cannot process it. To them, it's as if you just said "Sashashassasasha" or some other gibberish instead of actual words, their brain just glitches out and can't do language at that point.

Do you not know the difference between "loves to win" and "hates to lose"?
>>
>>33616965
Because yeah, narcs can't stand losing.
Competitive people will pick 20 fights even if they only win 12 of them because fuck yeah, won 12 fights. Lost 8 fights too but gotta fight to chase that win.
Narcs will make up bullshit to dodge fights 'cause they tilt after one loss.

Very good observation, I can vouch for this
>>

I've noticed that people who obsess over narcissists are typically very narcissistic. How many videos do you have to watch with some hack psychologist looking really concerned into the thumbnail, titled:
>8 Effective ways to make the narcissist shit and piss their pants
Before you realize it's all bullshit?
Narcissism îs the new McCarthyism.

>So being competitive makes you a narcissist to this dumb bitch. This is why you should never listen to women.
Yep, the author is a dumbass. No one enjoys losing. Some hate it, some dislike it, at best some people are indifferent but no one enjoys it either way.

The only positive thing about “narcissism” being today’s boogeyman is thankfully we can identify who the idiots are whenever someone uses the word or accusation, lets others know that they are neurotic and self victimising and loves to blame their own feelings on others.
