I can't find a job no matter what I do. I have been unemployed for over a year now. Should I go back to college? Started a comp sci degree but never finished it. Idk if that's even supposed to be a good degree anymore in terms of career potential what with all the layoffs that have been happening. Any other degree I should go for?
>>

well, what are you interested in?
>>
>>33616578
Computer programming and software. Not really into web development, but I like computer graphics programming and video game development, and low level programming like making your own compilers and things like that. I really like C so I thought maybe embedded programming might be a good field to study, but I haven't tried because I heard it's difficult to break into that industry professionally and there aren't that many jobs so competition is tight.

I just make video games in my spare time for fun and try to do every component from scratch so I understand as much of what's going on under the hood as possible
>>
>>33616547
it is a good degree but idk man, its a lot of money invested how well off are your parents still? because you gonna drain them by going back to college
>>
>>33616626
I don't have parents, I funded it last time by taking on debt. I would have to take on more debt to go back. But it's not like I'm making any money right now either, so I feel like going more into debt might help if I get a degree in a good industry. But basically I don't know what the good industries are or are going to be 5 years from now because the job market seems to be dogshit across the board right now
>>
>>33616642
ur a freaking tranny aint you? you have parents but yo refuse to talk to them
whatever man, ur wasting ur life, so am we must do something bro the older we get the more the options run out
>>
>>33616649
I"m a grown ass man and I said that because I don't want to go into details but basically my parents are separated and neither of them have money, and there are some other circumstances with them where they can't be relied on. And anyways even if they weren't broke I think I'm a little too old to be hitting them up for money
>>
>>33616649
uh...

You are aware that there are people who just don't have living parents, right?

YOU ARE AWARE OF MY BUTTHOLE IN YOUR BUTTHOLE YOU WILL
>>
>>33616642
well if money's the consideration you can do what you can to make it more affordable by living frugally, going to a state school, and working part time if you can. But I don't think you should be so concerned about going into debt to further your education. Money comes and goes, but an education is something that can never be taken away from you. Besides in the absolute worst case scenario where you do get a degree and still can't find a job they can't exactly collect on your debt if you have no money. A secret advanced strat our president has used multiple times.

do you have a contact?
I'm also coding some game but would like to speed up with some paid help.
I can leave a contact if you don't want to drop anything here, going to bed tough so will respond again tomorow
>>
>>33616686
time to go back on your meds anon
>>
>>33616693
Yes please share your contact. I don't accept money for game programming it's my passion and I'm not skilled enough that I feel good charging for it. But I always wanted to try collaborating with someone and gaining friends in the industry.
>>
>>33616700
I'm far from part of the industry, so sorry about that.
do you use discord?

compsci is a trash degree, youre not going to learn shit, a bachelors does not qualify you for entry level work, and competent employers dgaf about a degree anyways

exception being if you go to a rare good uni that teaches things like lambda calculus and compilers
>going into debt
oh youre US, fuck no dont pay for a compsci degree under pretty much any circumstance

all tech jobs are oversaturated, go into a career that actually makes products instead of an industry that endlessly circlejerks venture capital
>>
>>33616547
go for something medical- guaranteed job pretty much any location there will be sick people, old people etc needing care. It pays good too. If I was younger I would go back for this but it's over for me.
>>
>>33616547
Don't do IT or CompSci. Every single job is filled to the max with pajeets and pakis, many of whom have experience and degrees in India. And employers in white countries will always hire a Jeet with experience over an entry level white person.
>>
Take AI programming classes and you should be fine with a comp sci degree.

No.

It depends on the material being taught. If you're being taught shit that could be solved with a YouTube video with a professor who clearly doesn't give a shit that is one thing, but if you are practically given hands on solutions and experience that is a different. Compsci degrees are like trades for being a mechanic. True a mechanic can learn how to fix a car from his dad as a kid better than someone from trade school. However, someone from trade school is more trustworthy than someone who has no experience or skills in fixing. Same with programming, this piece of paper from a top notch state university says you were structured to know how to use computers and there is proof you know it, so there is trust there compared to someone who shows up in an interview and tries to jerk off the employer to get them a job.

I heard that you should try getting into AI somehow since it's supposedly the future.

Anything to do with Machine Learning and / or Data Science.

Does anyone know how to get into these industries? Maybe you can just get a computer science degree?

Or is there another direction that's better? Does anyone here have a high paying job that they think is future proof besides medical? Lol

study medicine or/and then look for a job desperately as if you were starving

Calm down on the debt, man. What's the point of making good money if you've got to pay it all to some jew?

I posted my email, send me a message and we can start talking, or do you want to use something else?

No problem. I'll send you a message later.

>>33620210
True, but how I see it is I have no money anyways and no hope for the future, so even the bleak hope that I might someday make enough money to outpace the debt is better than no hope at all. That's my current perspective.
