I'm genuinely seeking advice, not venting.
I'm 21 years old and over 400 pounds.
I'm lazy and partially self-aware.
I've noticed my chest somewhat stings, and frankly, I'm disappointed at the idea of my life even possibly ending in my twenties.
There is a high likelihood it will if I keep up my diet.
About a month ago I started working out. Ten minutes twice a day on the treadmill. Lost five pounds per week.
But it was killing me. Really tough on my ankles. Pussy move, I know, but I stopped.
If I'm being honest, the pain is an excuse.
I just don't even know if it's worth it.
I don't want to eat myself to death, but I don't see my life going anywhere.
At 21, can you ever have a good looking body after two decades of being obese?
If I can't even make it a month, how can I make it four or five years to shed 400 pounds?
I have so much I want to do, but it feels like I won't even be able to do it anyway.
Everyone tells me I'm strong and can work out. That I've grown muscle carrying around this weight for so long.
That if I lost it gradually, my skin would go back naturally due to my youth and I could be a good looking guy by my mid-twenties.
I don't even know if it's true, and if it is, I don't know if it even matters.
Anyone's advice is welcome. Any advice at all. I'm not one of those sensitive fatties. I know I'm gross, it's just a fact.
I just want a different perspective other than my own.

Weight loss is literally 90% diet. Your 10 minutes a day on the treadmill would not even burn the calories in one reeses cup. So how about you just don't eat it in the first place?

At that weight though you should really talk to a doctor and consider getting on ozempic or getting a surgical intervention. Like how do you even get over 400 pounds at 21 years old?
>>
You should swim instead of be on a treadmill. The buoyancy of the water largely counteracts the strain on joints. This idea that because you're carrying around a 400 pound body you have strong muscles is actually a misconception. A sedentary fat person has much weaker muscles than a fit person of a normal weight, because they're barely used.
>>
>>33617113
I don't want ozempic or surgical intervention.
I want to lose weight like a normal person.
I've taken the easy way out for everything in my life, and I'm not doing it for this.
That's how I'm over 400 pounds at 21.
Being lazy and not doing difficult things.
>>
>>33617119
Does swimming really work?
This might sound retarded, but is it the same level of a workout?
>>
>>33617097
You don't have to exercise
You need to switch to whole animal products like steak, eggs, liver, seafood and that will make you feel full throughout the day.
You need to cut out processed carbs like bread, biscuits, chips, noodles, pasta etc.
>>
>>33617122
What do you eat in a day?
>>
>>33617128
I just want a good breakfast and dinner, if I'm being honest.
I can live without lunch and snacks.
>>
>>33617136
Today I had six kolaches, fast food fried chicken, and a bag of popcorn.
As for movement, I mostly slept all day and then went out to a movie late at night.
It's pathetic.
>>
im not fat and my joints hurt when i work out
stop being a pussy
>over 150kg at 21
probably due for a lap-band
still gotta put down the fork

props for such an honest post tho
things are not easy when you don't like yourself
>>
>>33617142
Yes see? The kalaches and popcorn are the problem. You need to eat more meat first to keep you feeling full.
You don't need to move much to be thin. I don't either.
>>
>>33617097
ozempic injections you wont feel as much hunger anymore and you will lose weight look it up, its injections, weekly.
>>
>>33617172
>two replies suggesting surgery
I really just don't want it, but is it unavoidable?
I shouldn't waste money just because I've made awful choices.
Nor do I want to ruin my body any more than I already have.
What would a surgery do anyway?
I wouldn't exercise all the same.
Unless medical intervention is a requirement, I'd prefer to do it naturally.
>>
>>33617177
I guess so.
I might just be making excuses again, but I worry that I won't be burning anything. That even the small amounts I do eat will just take over anyway.
I can see that working in order to keep a normal weight, but does it work to lose a bunch?
>>
>>33617185
Its better to avoid it and change your actual diet. The drug won't solve your malnutrition which is killing you.
>>
>>33617190
You don't need to burn anything. If you don't eat as many processed carbs due to feeling full your body will slim out because its not being told to grow all the time due to the sugar content.
Your body needs nutrition
>>
>>33617190
But your body still needs some sugar of course. You just eat way more processed carbs to compensate for the lack of nutrition.
>>
>>33617193
>>33617204
That's what I was thinking. I don't like these drugs and surgeries, they feel like fads. It's just placating a problem not solving it.
As for the eventual weight loss, does my youth grant me any benefits? Is my skin just totally fucked?
I understand it might be wishful thinking to assume you can do something like this to yourself and get away scott-free, but is it possible for my body to look normal without fat removal?
>>
>>33617097
Wire your jaw shut and go on a liquid diet.
You will die otherwise.
Trust me hunger ain't that bad if you aren't also physically exhausted.
>>
>>33617215
Get an app that counts your nutrients and calories. Eat a multivitamin if you think youre not getting enough nutrients. Eat at a calorie defecit. 1500 seems to be common. /fit/ has a fat loss general that could help more.
>>
>>33617215
Your skin is probably fucked but you should get surgery for that if its possible.
You're aging at an accelerated rate due to all the calories you're consuming and the size of your body.
>>
>>33617222
Why would you eat a multivitamin instead of just eating food with all the vitamins? Pills are not the same as food.
>>
>>33617222
You don't need to count calories or nutrients OP. It's natural to just eat meat and not worry about the nutrition content.
All you have to do is eat a variety of meats until you feel full. Your body will tell you what you need to do.
>>
>>33617230
>if you think youre not getting enough nutrients
That advice is predicated on you not doing that. So its on you to do that.
>>
>>33617243
I'm not OP. I'm asking you a question which you didn't answer.
>>
>>33617097
First, /fit/ is going to give you much better guidance than you can get here, but I’ll cover some basics. I’m your size but I’m 25, so I know a bit about what it’s like. The first thing I notice is that you don’t say much of anything about changing your diet. Work as hard as you want, you can’t outrun a garbage diet. Your relationship with food is going to have to change, and if you’ve been using it as an emotional crutch like I did that’s scary as hell.

>But it was killing me. Really tough on my ankles. Pussy move, I know, but I stopped. If I'm being honest, the pain is an excuse.
The first part of fixing a problem is admitting you have one. That being said, you’re going to have to suck it up and get used to pain. It’s going to fill the void food leaves behind. I’ve gotten to the point where I like the soreness, it reminds me I did something good for myself.

>At 21, can you ever have a good looking body after two decades of being obese? YMMV but generally yes. Might have to get some surgery, though.

>>33617125
You can and should absolutely do water work-outs. You can put in the same amount of effort and not grind your knees to dust. You’ve got the world’s best weighted vest on you, so take it slow.

Just so we know, how are your sleeping habits and what does your daily liquid intake look like?
>>
>>33617255
>Work as hard as you want, you can’t outrun a garbage diet
TRUTH NUKE

but that does not mean salad and seeds. Keep that in mind OP.
>>
>>33617219
I have to talk, I meet for online classes. I can't suddenly show up to a class with my jaw wired shut.
>>33617227
Fuck. Yeah, that's what I was worried about.
>>
>>33617255
Sleeping is shit.
Really shit.
Indiscriminant all nighters and sleeping all during the day. Changes on a dime.
I wake up and my mouth is chafed and cracking. Really dry. I think I'm a mouthbreather due to being a fatass.
Maybe sleep apnea.
I just feel totally fucked, y'know?
I mean can it really even go back to normal?
It's like Humpty Dumpty. Even I'm pieced together again, will it be any better?
Anyways thanks for your reply.
>>
>>33617263
You don't need to wire your jaw shut. Don't listen to that retard.
Just eat a big juicy steak for lunch with some high quality cheese.
>>
>>33617250
if thats a serious question you might be a dumbass

to put it simply, food is made of calories and minerals
OP doesn't need the calories because he has plenty stored in fat
but still needs small amounts of minerals to function

the main one is salt - which is used by your nervous system
>>
>>33617097
At your weight a lot of exercises are not safe, don't even try running.
Do bicep curls (safest exercise on the planet) and get a very sturdy exercise bike and put in the hours.

To avoid skinflaps you have to lose weight by gaining muscle, it's a long, arduous process but if you lose weight by cardio you will get the skinflaps near guaranteed.
Look up what david goggins did he used to be like 300 lbs or something and he has no skinflaps.
>>
>>33617300
My brother is very much into fitness and David Goggins. We connect more with media but I guess I can try to connect with him on fitness.
I have an exercise bike. What fat guy doesn't, lol?
I was planning on running, but okay, I can see why that would be a bad idea.
>>
>>33617296
Your nervous system doesn't use salt. Salt is toxic. Its used as a preservative.
>>
>>33617296
You nervous system uses fat which OP needs to eat
>>
>>33617097
Get a scale and step on it every day, preferably after you wake up and have taken a piss/shit, but before you've eaten or drank anything. Record your weight every day. This will create a feedback mechanism for you, which will help tremendously
Get a rower. Because of how heavy you are, things like treadmills or biketrainers, while useful, can cause injury because of the weight that's put on your joints. I started with a biketrainer myself, but I got hemorrhoids from it because of the weight going to your ass.
Don't just do your workouts once a day at most. Do them after you eat. Every time you eat, whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner, go for a walk or do some rowing or whatever. 5 - 10 minutes is enough, but you want to eventually get to 15-30 minutes each time.
Eat healthier foods, especially protein. Look for foods that are very satiating and nutrient rich, while being low in calories. Stuff like yoghurt with fruits and nuts, eggs, potatoes, etc, are very good to keep you from feeling hungry.
Also, cut out all drinks besides water and maybe tea or coffee (but limit those). You should mostly be drinking just water. Sparkling water also helps you feel full.
Try intermittent fasting to cut down on calorie intake, and every once in a while, maybe once a week or so, just fast the entire day, only drinking that day. You'll be surprised how good it feels to manage a whole day without eating, and you'll instantly lose multiple pounds overnight.
Make sure to maintain a steady sleep schedule by waking up at exactly the same time every morning and never deviating from that. Sleep is extremely important.

I was 300 pounds in 2023. I now hover around 200-220 pounds. These are various things I've tried and found works. I hope they help you too.
God bless you anon and all others reading this.
>>
>>33617185
>but is it unavoidable?
No, but it will require you to workout your mind before you workout your body. You need to develop willpower, discipline, self-control and perseverence. It's hard, but much more worth it in the long run.

>Sleeping is shit.
Yeah, you need to fix that. That's going to be your first discipline test. Find 8.5 hours in your schedule that you don't have to do anything on any day of the week and you stick to that RELIGIOUSLY. It doesn't matter what's going on, the second the clock hits that time you wash, brush, and go to bed.

>Maybe sleep apnea.
Maybe? No, at 400lbs it is definitely sleep apnea. If you're still on your parents health insurance go get a sleep study done. If you're not, get on medicaid and then get a sleep study done. CPAP sucks the first couple of times, but you'll notice a difference once you get used to it. You're also less hungry when your body isn't constantly fighting exhaustion.

>I mean can it really even go back to normal?
You absolutely can if you put in the effort. It really is 90% mind over matter. I walked pic related on Sunday night/Monday morning, and I weighed in at 406.7 immediately before. You just have to push yourself and get used to discomfort. I'm not recommending you go out and walk 10 miles in one go right now, but just know that genuine hard work is still possible at your weight and you should want to get there.

>>33617389
>Get a rower.
See if you can comfortably row first, if your college has a gym you can get into. If you can, absolutely. I used to love rowing, but I'm literally too fat for it now. Hopefully you're not in the same boat.

Do OMAD eat lean protein like chicken, eat veggies aswell and drink strictly water. If you're craving something sweet eat a piece of fruit. Walk everyday for 1 hour if you can. Alternatively you could go to a pool and swim, swimming also burns calories and is easy on the knees
>>
>>33617097
Eat a small meal once a day and walk or move, buy a treadmill or find a walking track near you and just go there everyday and walk dude.
>>
>>33617142
you can make your own food?
try a diet of potatoes in the oven with olive oil, pepper them with salt, pepper and some oregano, oven 30 min or til they are golden. RED potatoes, yellow ones have more water in them.
try eating close to a kg of these potatoes, that's your whole meal for the day pluss a fruit and skimmed milk.
you are so fat you don't need a real serious diet yet, you WILL go down if you stay away from sweet pastry for a while.
try buying enough potatoes for the day after and eat before going to a store or getting more food so you don't pick up more pastry while hungry
>>
>>33621996
Potatoes are just as bad as pastries. They are just processed carbs.

>>33620759
>lean protein
No you need to eat fat.
>>
>>33622024
you won't meet anyone that's goten fat from eating (non-fried)potatoes
>>
>>33622045
But it doesn't fundamentally change the composition of his diet. He needs to change the order in what he eats first so he doesn't crave so many carbs.
>>
>>33622059
personally, after the 0.8 kg potato meal I just described I have no cravings for the rest of the day. try it yourself
>>
sunlight helps sweat, and metabolism. even sitting in it your heart rate will go up.
>>
>>33617097
You simply rack discipline. OMAD low cal filling meals. Eating isn't a hobby, don't do it just because you're bored. After a week it'll get easier to stay strict on this, but you really do have to try.
