so ive been considering watching some older cartoons (batman beyond, teen titans, tmnt 2003, ect ect) cuz ive heard theyre actually pretty good but i get embarrassed thinking about watching cartoons meant for kids/teens as an adult (a young one, granted).i think it comes from really not wanting to be like those chungus adults who watch shit like bluey or steven universe or w/e, realistically speaking i know its not the same but i still cant shake that feeling.kind of a silly thread but i was wondering if anyone else feels this way and how they get over it (ig this also applies to other types of media as well).INB4 "just get over it"
>>33617763if you don't tell anyone you watched it then there's nothing to be embarrassed about.
>>33617763You're embarrassed for a reason. Your body is trying to tell you it's a waste of time
>>33617763>realistically speaking i know its not the sameit is.
>>33617763Society might try to shame you and tell you it's a waste of time. But remember that society is full of hypocrites that sit in front of a TV for hours upon hours, or scrolling TikTok, watching dumb shit of no value.>it might be seen as childishIf it's indicative of you not acting like an adult when you should, that might be a problem. But as long as you don't shirk you duties and responsibilities as an adult, there's no problem with it, is there? Watching cartoons doesn't *necessarily* have to stop you from growing as a person, unless that's all you do.>it might be a waste of time Depends. Is there something else you should rather be doing? Get to that. But if it's an hour or so before bed when nothing productive is going to happen anyway? Who cares.
>>33617763prioritize yourself
>>33617763I recommend "Batman: The Animated Series" from 1992-95, and also "X-Men: The Animated Series" (1992-97) together with its recent follow-up "X-Men '97".
>>33617763I watched the entirety of Venture Bros in the span of 4 months and I've never told a living soul IRL about it. It's the only tv show in general that I've binge watched to completion embarrassingly enough. No one at my job or at home knows about it though because I keep it too myself. Point is, as >>33617766pointed out, no one will know you watched cape shit if you keep your mouth shut about it and have more to say in conversations other than stupid nerd shit
>>33617763>i think it comes from really not wanting to be like those chungus adults who watch shit like bluey or steven universe or w/e, realistically speakingso don't be an epic chungus. you can watch Stephen universe all you want and none of it compels you to basedface or die your heckin hair blueno amount of bad fans can ever make a thing bad, you learn this when you stop being young. people respect adults who are regular and normal about their preferences
