I was planning on spending about $1.5k on speakers and amp.
I though I'm buying stuff i'm gonna listen to for another 15-20 years. Will be good quality enjoyable sound that I can enjoy and make my life better.

I even went to store to test how good speakers sound irl was amazed. Then i listened to this video on my 25eur earphones and it sounded not that far off. Almost equally good. At least it feels this way. As far as I can remember.

I don't want to buy anything now. Feels weird.

Headphones can indeed sound far better than speakers that cost a great deal more. And high-end headphones are a thing, incidentally; you can pay thousands of dollars for a pair of headphones if you want (and in some cases a good headphone amp is worth paying for too).

Bear in mind that other things besides the amp and speakers can also have a major impact on sound quality. The quality of the recording matters (not just the original recording, but whether it's compressed or uncompressed) and the quality of the source: a good re-clocking DAC can do wonders.

And the one thing people starting out always forget about is that the acoustics of the listening room have an *enormous* impact on how good speakers sound. If you want a high end system you'll need to think seriously about installing acoustic treatments in the listening room.

audiophile isn't worth it but $1000 in speakers isn't audiophile

what you really need is a sub that'll pressurize the room down to 16hz, a good speaker for center channel, and then you can get a bunch of rinky dink surrounds

It's mostly rich people wankery to have a dedicated "music" room just like it is to have a dedicated room for watching film.
Normal people are just fine with a $200 Sony receiver and similarly priced bookshelf/floorstanding speakers of any kind with a subwoofer sitting in their regular living room using regular cables and youtube tier audio files.

I own a KEF set. They're quite good. Though of course I grimace every time I remember the price. If you're thinking of going with KEF, go with it.

But anyway, real advice is this: music makes you happier and makes your life better, you're right.
The problem is that you will get to listen to that expensive set, like, never, since you gotta work all day, commute, chores, etc. Me? 90% of my listening is done... in the car. That's reality of life. You have to consider how rarely the nice set is going to be used.

I only bought mine because I was imagining that one day I'll dance with girls to Bruce Springsteen songs in the living room like they did in boomer movies.

Buying a better satellite set for your computer (Klipsch or logitech) is just as much an upgrade, same with your TV if you watch TV. Also, buying a speaker for every room is good so you can motivate yourself with music while you're doing chores. Sonos is good for this since they're wireless, the other option is wiring them all together (passive + receivers). Start spending money, I won't stop you, but remember to stop and think about how you experience audio daily. Maybe make a mental pie chart of where the sound/audio you hear daily comes from, and upgrade the biggest ones first (well, other than buying a new car).

To make speaker sound good you have to work on the room. Most likely you will need more speakers than just a stereo set or even a 4.1 setup. You will need to buy multiple sizes of speakers even tiny little Bluetooth tweeters to just put in little nooks in the room to cover all of the empty spots so that you can completely have a immersive ambient noise so you don't know where the sound is going from. For instance in the bathroom I have 12 speakers total and that room is small

So the cost on just the bathroom is $2350.
