So you might have people who (unlike addicts) can, but simply do not want to work. They will actively sabotage the employment if you, as the employer do not read between the lines that they don't want the job.

When they first interviewed me I was made to wait an insultingly long time before being called into the office. Other times when I was first hired they did that as well.Some time later they moved me to a different job site where I would have a car, so the office manager took me out for a road test. When I came in I saw there was an interviewee waiting in the lobby. I was called in right away and I went to the garage with the manager. On our way out we passed the guy in the lobby and he asked if he was still going to be interviewed. The manager said "yes we'll do your interview later, is there a problem?" to which the guy replied "well its just a long wait." I remember as I was doing the road test the manager was seething about that, saying he couldn't believe that guy had said something like that. I assume he didn't hire him.That manager really was a pathetic little man.
