If you're high-enough functioning, eventually you'll get the hang of interviews after you bomb enough of them. If you're visibly autistic though, you're screwed. The modern interview process and its obsession with surface-level things like appearance heavily discriminates against autistic people.

volunteering and effort. even if you're visibly autistic if you have some experience and are enthusiastic about a role there's a good chance they'll overlook a few things.consider apprenticeships too.

>>33635683You apply for the most social role you can get. Customer service/sales. Ironically, people with asd tend to enjoy and be pretty good at roleplaying a character. There's an expectation for you to not be wholly genuine and for some of your behaviors to be exaggerated when working in these roles. This can obscure some of your autistic quirks, especially if you trend to a more over-enthusiastic character archetype. The added benefit is that the social scenarios are predictable and repeated. The same customer service requests, the same types of calls, etc. You can put in a lot of social reps and learn techniques you can apply in wider social situations.
