>be me, have dyscalculia>can't do math at all>dropout, can't get a GED because it requires math>most jobs require a GED for some fucking reason>can't get a career or go into trade school>trade school requires GEDWtf do I do? Suicide seems like the only option and I don't want to be a welfare fag. I'm 18 btw.
khan academy
>>33644317I can't learn math though. I'm genuinely incapable.
How bad do you have it? What's it like? I've never heard of that condition but it seems to be legit enough for there to be government fact sheets on it. Dunno what to tell you man, have you tried a musical instrument?
I think the ged only had 4 questions for geometry and 4 questions for algebra. I didn’t know shit and was guessing based on what I remembered from pre algebra. Every time I would narrow the multiple choice down to 2 and just guess. Usually it’s not terribly difficult to narrow down. Somehow I passed which that in itself shows what a joke a GED is. I can’t imagine anyone would care if you had one?
>>33644334>What's it like?Basically it's a learning disability and is the math equivalent of dyslexia. Some people have called it number dyslexia. I struggle to do mental math and even counting as I can lose track of the numbers, and many with it have to use their hands to count even in adulthood.>have you tried a musical instrumentI have but lost interest. It won't make me money though.
>>33644341I can't do algebra. I can only do addition / subtraction. Even multiplying or dividing is off the table for me.
>>33644329k then kill yourself retard
>>33644343Fascinating. I thought I was bad at math for never being able to memorize times tables, struggling through trigonometry and fucking crashing hard/failing out of calculus 101. But for you, dividing 21 into 3 parts makes no sense? You have my sympathy, truly.
Sorry to hear. Duolingo has an elementary math course now, it may be of help. Military is the obvious job path for $$$, they have tests but they are passable even with terrible math scores. Outside of career, do you have any system for personal finance and tracking your own money? Having someone else manage your account and/or living frugally are the natural solutions, but you could have someone help you budget and physically separate the money into separate wallets/debit cards for different things like food/entertainment so you can't overspend. You can disable overdrafting on many debit cards to avoid fees. Have you implemented solutions like this in your life, either for finance or time management or whatever? Btw, you could just lie about having a GED for many jobs and totally get away with it.
>>33644309You are 18Watch khan academy for a year and get a tutor. You can drill algebra through your thick skull it will just take longer than most
>>33644454Unfortunately I have bipolar disorder. I wouldn't be allowed in the military lmao. As for money I've been pretty frugal lately and can manage that on my own.>Btw, you could just lie about having a GEDFeels kinda shit to have to lie so I can do something worthwhile, but I guess I could do that. Don't some jobs ask you for proof though?
>>33644341I'm terrible at math and was able to pass with a little halfhearted study.
>>33645702I've literally never encountered a person where the reason for being bad at precalc math didn't boil down to lack of practice
>>33644343Then algebra and calculus should be fine, because you aren't really manipulating numbers there, just collections of symbols.
>>33644309>I'm 18 btwas long as you stay away from gains goblins like the green jew this kind of stuff sorts itself out
>>33644309Get a clinical diagnosis.Use it to get on legit disability.Do you play videogames?
Forklift certification? CDL? Permits for some fringe equipment?
>>33647155>suggesting he worksUnironically kys. This is late stage capitalism in a low trust society. Just go on welfare.
>>33647162>Just go on welfare."I don't want to be a welfare fag". Read his post, retard-kun. Also neetbux was already suggested, and i doubt he could get welfare just for dyscalculia.
>>33647272The advice is still>just get on welfareHis ego isn't helping him when he has a genuine disorder like that.Whether he goes on welfare or not, people will notice the discalcula, and he'll be judged. You can't avoid that.
Is there a chance you can directly contact a trade school and talk to whoever's running the place? As long as you can measure things, and count on a basic level you should be able to learn the basics of most trades... and decent tradies will understand that, given most of them struggle to read.Dyscalculia is better to have than dyslexia in day to day life. Explain it to them, maybe?
