Drugs like marijuana and alcohol didn't help. Marijuana gives me bad highs, I don't relax but fixate and get high strung.
Alcohol activates something inside of me and I don't stop until I pass out.
Never been to therapy because I am poor.

uh maybe you should try drugs that actually help with depression instead of drugs that make it worse?

Being sad about leading a sad life is not a disease. A sad life can be composed of two parts: The logical part and the primitive part.
The logical part is pretty straight forward: If you live an unfulfilling life with no autonomy and control, no joyful activities, no partner and everyone is generally awful to you all the time that is obvious that this will at some point bum you out. That is what most people here really need to think about and fix.

What is more complicated and harder to diagnose is the latter: You should consider that humans are basically still cave men. For give or take 100.000 years humans have lived in small tribes, collected food, fucked and danced around a fire. We are simply not adapted to sitting in a sterile office for 12 hours a day and fill out excel sheets.
So maybe you have to calm down the inner cave man a little and give him things he needs. Going into and experiencing nature, using your body (exercise), sex, social interaction, rituals, doing something dangerous, stuff like that. We don't always have to tend to the inner cave man, just every once in a while.

And if addressing neither of that worked, there's still a possibility of a hormonal thing, which can only really be addressed through medication.

I did take lexapro for a while but stopped cause I couldn't afford it. I took illegal hard drugs and either they depleted my remaining serotonin and dopamine or I did them a bit too hard and they damaged my head. I don't distrust medicine, I doubt its potency and effectiveness.

No drinking. No sugar. No jerking off.

And go for a walk. And think about stuff.

Depends on cause.
Could be diet, sleep, sedentary lifestyle, lack of social outlet, lack of meaning or any combination of the above or more. Its a very broad question with a cuck tonne of answers. No one here can g8ve you your silver bullet
