Is a resume with just my degree and a separate certification enough to get a job?
It's literally only two lines. My resume looks completely empty. I just want an entry level job but I'm scared of handing this thing in to a recruiter

I feel like the faggiest fucking cringe fruitcake dumbass if I embellish or make up anything even alone on the computer. God damn man
>>
I hate updating my resume too. Ask someone to proofread it and see if they have any input. You could also google some examples of resumes and kinda go from there.

Job hunting sucks but it’ll all work out!
What kind of job are you looking for?
>>
Everybody had to start somewhere. My condolences, OP. Just be honest and don't undersell yourself.
>>
if you are a recent grad with no experience, put some relevant coursework on it with descriptions

tailor to the job

Entry level accountant stuff
I am thinking about just paying some existing big company like H&R Block for their proprietary course and then showing up at one of their locations and begging for a job

>irrelevant degree ... 2025
>relevant certification ... 2025

Okay I see. So for sure I’d go to whatever HR block you’re thinking of applying at and go in person and ask about applying and all of that. Bring up their course and ask if they recommend doing that too.
They’ll for sure tell you that you have to apply online but the point is putting a face to your resume. They’ll remember you and you’re more likely to get a call back

>Is a resume with just my degree and a separate certification enough to get a job?
no. maybe if you're applying to mcdonalds

I look at resumes from fucking 1st year students every week and most of them have shit like
>part time work
>internships
>their own side hustle companies with moderately successful products
etc
>>
>>33672134
OP, all you need is to job hunt for yourself for like 2 weeks to realize that no one here or anywhere else knows what the hell is going on and that the job market is total dogshit right now.

All the advice people have for tweaking your resume, going in and speaking to a manager, and so on... isn't working for them either.

People hate HR block ? Why, what they do

That’s not true. Sure it’s harder to get a job in certain states/cities but lol you can for sure still get one.

I have a job btw

>>33672134
Resumes are for losers that aren't getting the job so the workplace can reject you without calling you a jew or a psycho

stop gassing up op on hopium and copium
you need to bribe someone or give a sexual favor or have blackmail to get employment either that or they do a background check (anscestry.com) to see if you qualify for nepotism
>>
>>33672450
to get a job ??! What types of jobs are you trying to get ? He’s not trying to climb the corporate ladder in a spy movie. Who has been withholding jobs from you in such a way
>>
>>33672134
You need to mainly write about what you have done, even tangentially, that shows you are a great pick for the job. A resume is an advertisement to get someone to buy you even if the product for sale is a pos.

I'm not some outstanding talent, human capital diamond in the rough. Please. I know it. The chat gpt recruiter resume review software knows it. We both know that we both know it.
>>
>>33672487
this is unrealistic. OP is getting a job in 2025 not in 1987 when you got your job by walking in the door of some place and asking. It takes a little extra sumpn sumpn to get a job now.
>>
>>33672487
The last job I got was in 2018 and that was because it was my neighbor's business and I knew where he lived. You have to have leverage on the work. You have to you know give them the offer they can't refuse.
>>
>>33672544
I was not even a thought in 1987 but yes I agree you need to have a little something. That little something would be him going to the place and inquiring about a job. Will he get it on the spot? Unlikely. Everything is online now so he will inevitably be sent to apply online. But the manager will be more inclined to pull his resume because he’s already met him. Anyone you’ve met irl will be more inclined to pick you over someone they’ve never met/spoke to.
Does this work for all jobs? No.
But for the job he was going for yes it could. It couldn’t hurt at all
>>
>>33672532
That's not what that guy was asking you to do. He was just asking you to not sell yourself short.
You don't need to blow smoke up anybody's ass. You're clearly not an idiot and earnestly want a job. Make that abundantly clear in your resume.
>>
>>33672686
To whom it may concern: I am clearly not an idiot. I want a job, earnestly yours, OP

I was referring to passion and willingness to learn despite being inexperienced (although put the direct experience in if there is any) and putting in experiences that support the sort of job it is - for example, team activity, since many jobs require you to work in a team.
>>
>>33672134
Depends what job but by and large, yes.
University just shows youre capable of getting through large work loads. A certification shows you have basic training on what goes into the job, and if you can, a portfolio shows you can actually DO the job.

No one's gonna look you over if you have all that. Especially if youre applying to a job thats in high demand, and theyre having trouble filling the position.

Thanks Satan, this is actually a pretty moralizing comment.

Np. Remember to spread the blood of the innocent.

Also if its any back up, Im trying to transfer into a field that has nothing to do with my degree at all. They typically hire if you can provide a portfolio. I was feeling demoralized so I picked the brain of a friend at a party this weekend in the field to affirm if thats how it works.

Dude has an arts degree (history) and got into this field that way. It involves a lot of math coding and analysis, and theres a masters degree for it. They dgaf anymore. Its a self learnable and show caseable skill.

Millennial are taking over the white collar world. And they're more "show me what you got" and not "ill arbitrarily hire you over a title. You got from school"

Satan is real but he is leading you astray. Don't put effort into the application and training and education. You aren't getting hired. You need a kickback. Tell the interviewer if you get hired you'll kickback 10% of your salary to them.

google "skills-based resumes"

You can fill it by constructing it around what you can do rather than what jobs you've had
>>
>>33681572
thanks for the skill based resume anon but a 20 year old chick with perky c cups and a short skirt just applied so....
