a serious question i keep reflecting on. why is it that here on 4chan, whenever a biologically female user shows up, most people assume shes trans or just bait? i know its part of the community jokes and also because lots of guys pretend to be women for fun, but how did this even start? where and when? i really want to understand. i dont mind when they call me gay, tell me to show tits, or insult me for being a woman, i go along with the joke. but like, is it really not normal for women to be here? why not? i just want to know the reason behind it, someone please explain!
>>33681927youre too youngits rule 1 of the internet
>>33681938yeah, i guess im really young. lol
>>33681927It's a meme / chan culture evolved from pic related. Back then, when 4chan was less mainstream and the trans hype wasn't spread by the media 24/7, this sites' target audience were so predominately male, that actual female users were basically unicorns.Even if today there's a higher chance of women browsing here due the sites popularity, the notion of "no girls ever visit this shithole" is so strong, that the only logical conclusion is: "you're only pretending to be a girl (one way or the other)".
>>33682004i get it, this makes sense. i found this site through guys i know, i hardly ever see other girls here, and when i do theyre often trans or they dont say theyre women outright. makes sense because most women prefer going out, doing hair and makeup, not hanging on chans. theres a minority like me who come here to shitpost, pass time, or feel less alone, his place can be an escape. before i joined i heard people compare 4chan to the deep web, but now that im here its not like that. most people are chill, some shitpost, some are mean, but thats just normal, like real life lol
>>33682039Yeah... This site has a certain flair to it, which is why I wasted way to many years on it, but it's not that special / different compared to other social media sites in a sense of social dynamics and culture. Take from this place what suits you best and ignore the rest. Or, if you're smart, leave.>people compare 4chan to the deep webIt's very far from that. Although the term 'deep web' is ambiguous itself.
>>33682071Okay, the text in that image hit me. I definitely have those thoughts and felt like that, I didn’t understand why. Thank you, I’m going to save myself while I still have time.
>>33681927You appear to be asking this genuinely. Goddamn, I'm old.>why is it that here on 4chan, whenever a biologically female user shows up, most people assume shes trans or just bait?rule 1 of the internet is there are no women on the internet, and 4chan doesn't consider trans women to be women. Watch, a poltard will start screeching in the replies>how did this even start? where and when? It's always been a thing>but like, is it really not normal for women to be here? why not? It's not. 4chan's an extraordinarily misogynistic site. /adv/ is probably the nicest board, and it's still pretty bad here. 4chan's nickname used to be "the internet hate machine" for a reason.
>>33681927OldfagIts in the rules of the internet: "there are no girls on the internet." And this wasnt literally denying the existence of women online. Moreso because we are anonymous, were all for all intents and purposes sexless unless absolutely relevant. And particularly for women, there are very few reasons for one to actually reveal their gender other than the fact she wants attention or brownie points for being a girl. Hence "tits or gtfo". That was more of a calling girls out for attention whoring. So just show us your tits already since thatd what you really want, or leave. This has been a 4chan history moment. So tits or gtfo
>>33681927People tend to end up on this site because they're lonely in real life.Women get lots of attention by default, so they have to try hard to dig themself into a hole to be lonely enough to end up here. That's why it's not very believable.
>>33682039>people compare 4chan to the deep web4chan isn't the darknet. While I'm here, common misconceptions and the truth:>the darknet is super secret The "darknet" is literally just "websites that you can only access with Tor," ie URLs ending in .onion. The New York Times has a darknet site, for example. Tor is free. Easy to set up. >the darknet is super fucked up and inhumanNah, it's ~90% Craiglist for drugs (or Ebay for drugs, or Amazon for drugs, whatever you're familiar with) and forums where people advertise drugs for sale/discuss where to buy the best drugs. It is true that you can buy basically any drug on the planet on the darknet. The remaining 10% is a mix of child pornography, identity theft, DDoS on demand, and journalists talking with political dissidents in repressive regimes. At any given point there's one to three big darknet drug marketplaces where most activity's concentrated. They're up for a few years, then get raided and taken down, then new ones pop up. There's smaller markets that specialize in unique drug classes, like designer disassociatives or whatever, but those are tiny and pretty close-knit. If you're curious about all this you can get Tor and look for yourself, the marketplace URLs aren't hard to find at all on the clearnet. >but it's illegal to go on the darknetIt isn't.>but won't I get hackedYou won't if you're smart. And "smart" here just means "you don't download anything and you stick to the big darknet forums/marketplaces.">but what if I see something illegal like child pornYou won't unless you're specifically looking for it. Don't look for it.>but isn't the darknet where there's livestreamed torture rooms and hitmen and"Red rooms" are mostly myths. There's fucked-up gore videos on the darknet, but nothing you can't find on the clearnet. There are no hitmen on the darknet. There are people who claim to be able to kill your ex if you wire them fifty grand in Monero first. Not the same thing.
